Responsibilities
  • Lead and contribute to future concepts and design enhancements for Core Electronics products using sound engineering principles and applicable business standards, practices, procedures, and product or program requirements.
  • Serve as a technical leader for projects across global cross-functional teams, assuring cradle-to-grave success.
  • Translate customer requirements into functional product requirements for design teams and own requirements traceability through design, final implementation, and validation.
  • Participate in developing project proposals, engineering estimates, and schedules.
  • Work with the scientific community and railroad subject-matter experts to develop freight automation solutions, evaluate them in field trials, and productize them for railroad revenue environments.
  • Lead and participate in technical and program reviews.
  • Maintain awareness of technical trends to ensure technical quality, timely completion of work, and responsiveness to customer and program needs.
  • Work with the Global Supply Chain Organization across locations to support procurement of parts from an engineering requirements perspective.
  • Provide technical input to customer-facing documentation, including operational manuals, installation instructions, troubleshooting guides, and product marketing materials.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and provide input to engineering design guidelines and best practices.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
  • Locomotive systems design experience.
  • Railroad industry experience.
  • Prior systems design experience with large-scale wireless communication-based projects.
  • Experience working in the product development lifecycle.
  • Ability to lead design efforts with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of Association of American Railroads and CENELEC standards for the rail industry.

The 12-month backlog rose 11% whilst the multi-year backlog jumped 42%. Debt stands at a manageable 14.7% of market value. Operating cash flow reached approximately $2 billion over the past twelve months.

Forsee Power and Wabtec team up to electrify locomotives with advanced battery tech

Forsee Power, a smart battery systems specialist, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Wabtec to integrate advanced battery systems into battery-electric locomotive platforms. Wabtec, which unveiled the world's first battery-electric freight locomotive in 2021, will collaborate with Forsee Power to enhance performance and reliability whilst optimising costs. Forsee Power's PULSE PLUS RAIL battery system, built on Toshiba's latest-generation LTO cells, offers up to 20 years lifespan, high-power output and voltage range up to 1,500 VDC.
