Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift
About the job
- The candidate must be able to write work orders, parts requests, shift logs, routine reports, and correspondence.
- The candidate must be able to read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, maintenance manuals, blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
- The candidate must be able to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, stretch, step, climb, and sit frequently or throughout the shift.
- The candidate must be able to reach with their hands and arms, climb, and maintain balance.
- The candidate must be able to use ladders and climb stairs.
- The candidate must have appropriate eye, hand, and foot coordination to execute tasks properly.
- The candidate must be competent with personal computers or tablets and handheld devices.
- The candidate must regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds, with or without assistance.
- A high school diploma is required.
- At least two years of experience in an industrial setting is required for entry-level positions.
- Two to six years of experience in an industrial setting in a similar role is required for mid-level positions.
- The candidate must have seven years of experience in an industrial setting in a similar role for advanced-level positions.
- The candidate must have experience with electrical controls for mid-level and advanced-level positions.
- The Maintenance Technician troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains equipment in accordance with electrical diagrams, sketches, operating manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
- The Maintenance Technician adheres to safety procedures, established Good Manufacturing Processes, and company policies to preserve product integrity and customer specifications.
- The Maintenance Technician uses an electronic computerized maintenance management system on a mobile device to document completed work orders.
- The Maintenance Technician performs routine preventive maintenance, including inspecting drives and belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other machinery parts.
- The Maintenance Technician troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains mechanical and electrical equipment, including motors, pneumatics, electronic boards, programmable logic controllers, touch screens, displays, contactors, conveyors, blending systems, scaling systems, filling systems, cartoning and coding or printing systems, compressed-air systems, vacuum systems, hydraulic systems, and bulk-filling systems.
- The Maintenance Technician works on single-phase and three-phase electricity systems and equipment operating from 5 VDC through 480 VAC.
- The Maintenance Technician works with electrical wiring, relay logic, and control and safety circuits.
- The Maintenance Technician tears down and rebuilds gearboxes, clutches, actuators, and other assemblies related to equipment repairs.
- The Maintenance Technician records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
- The Maintenance Technician cleans machines and machine parts thoroughly, removing and reinstalling parts as necessary.
- The Maintenance Technician uses hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, precision measuring instruments, electrical and electronic testing devices, drill presses, surface grinders, torches, plasma cutters, pipe threaders, brakes, presses, calipers, and micrometers.
- The Maintenance Technician fabricates parts, guarding, and equipment modifications for repairs and improvements.
- The Maintenance Technician welds different grades of metal for repairs and fabrication using plant welding techniques, including metal inert gas, tungsten inert gas, and arc welding.
- The Maintenance Technician troubleshoots heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems as needed.
- The Maintenance Technician reports food safety and quality problems promptly to personnel authorized to initiate corrective action.
- The Maintenance Technician trains junior or new technicians on equipment, procedures, and troubleshooting practices.
- The Maintenance Technician trains operators and other support staff in equipment best practices, operation, and setup.
- The Maintenance Technician completes preventive maintenance, product changeovers, corrective maintenance, and breakdown maintenance as requested.
- The Maintenance Technician performs other assigned duties.
- Experience in the food manufacturing industry is preferred.
- A two-year technical or community college degree is preferred.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and electronic systems is preferred.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of programmable logic controller troubleshooting is preferred.
- Advanced programmable logic controller troubleshooting skills are preferred.
- An electrician's license is preferred.
- Welding experience or certification is preferred.
- Metal fabrication experience is preferred.

Nonantum announced the acquisition of MSI Express, a contract manufacturing and packaging partner for leading food and beverage brands.
In October 2020, MSI acquired Power Packaging's St. Charles, Illinois manufacturing facility, with liquid filling, dry blending, and pouching capabilities, from Post Holdings.
In 2005 MSI Express collaborated with the iconic Crystal Light brand and commercialized the first stick pack.
