Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience with a heavy emphasis on process development and project management is preferred.
  • Familiarity with chemical process unit operations, including batch reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, industrial instrumentation, heating and cooling equipment, and distillation columns.
  • Ability to work safely with pilot- and production-scale equipment and hazardous reactive, flammable, toxic, and pyrophoric materials.
  • Ability to work in a production chemical processing environment while wearing required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to perform hands-on processing duties, including chemical sampling and lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs to obtain samples, observe processes, or perform similar tasks.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
  • Support plant operations and execute engineering projects throughout the plant.
  • Troubleshoot production processes and optimize existing equipment and systems for improved efficiency.
  • Procure new equipment and develop new processes.
  • Modify and expand existing facilities.
  • Supervise internal and external resources as needed to complete projects.
  • Work with staff to screen processes and transfer technology.
  • Coordinate vendors and contractors on design and fabrication during project execution.
  • Develop processes, methods, and technologies to meet plant or project objectives.
  • Design processes, provide construction guidance, commission and start up production processes, and troubleshoot them.
  • Promote safety initiatives and provide input during Hazard and Operability reviews.
  • Design and execute manufacturing protocols to optimize process performance.
  • Coordinate production trial batches, including specifying raw materials, drafting procedures, monitoring batches, reporting results, and assisting with equipment assessment and specification.
  • Lead or assist troubleshooting activities for existing manufacturing processes and perform root cause analysis.
  • Evaluate equipment and processes to identify performance-optimization opportunities and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Write procedures, Safe Work Practices, Design Hazard Reviews, and Management of Change documentation.
  • Engage in continuous-improvement activities within the manufacturing area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with polymers and/or acrylate chemistry.
  • Experience with Process Safety Management.
  • Knowledge of validation and qualification processes.
  • Travel may be offered for training or other educational purposes.
