About the company

Finto builds AI agents that automate the invoice-to-pay lifecycle for mid-market and enterprise finance teams. The product integrates with SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle NetSuite and DATEV to automate document classification, invoice data extraction, three-way matching, account coding and approval workflows. It runs on GDPR-hosted European infrastructure and emphasizes high data extraction accuracy. The company’s model of operation is to deploy AI-powered automation that interacts with existing ERP and accounting systems to handle end-to-end invoice processing without manual intervention. Finto differentiates itself by its deep ERP integrations, European data footprint, and focus on enterprise-scale automation, using YC-backed seed funding and a European go-to-market strategy. Its goal is to scale its European presence and deployment, helping large finance teams streamline approvals, matching, and payment execution across the invoice-to-pay cycle.

What believers are saying

  • July 2026 seed from Lightspeed, Gradient, and YC supports European expansion.
  • Munich-based enterprise buyers reduce sales friction for SAP-heavy mid-market accounts in 2026.
  • Active customers and continued hiring indicate product-market pull beyond demo interest.

What critics are saying

  • SAP, NetSuite, and DATEV can bundle adjacent automation before Finto scales in 2027.
  • A single extraction or posting error triggers finance distrust, blocking deployment at enterprise customers.
  • $3.4M seed funds a thin runway; YC-backed rivals can outspend Finto on GTM.

What makes Finto unique

  • Finto targets invoice-to-pay, not just invoice capture, across SAP, Dynamics, and DATEV.
  • YC 2025 and Munich give it Silicon Valley credibility plus European enterprise proximity.
  • Arminia Bielefeld and Eat Happy Group validate early adoption in German finance teams.

Finto raises $4.3M for AI accounting agents, picks Munich over Silicon Valley

German startup Finto has raised $3.4 million in seed funding from Y Combinator, Gradient, and Lightspeed after completing YC's San Francisco programme. The company, which builds AI agents for accounting tasks, has chosen to base itself in Munich rather than Silicon Valley. Finto's software autonomously handles invoice verification, account coding, and purchase-order matching, integrating with SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, and DATEV. The startup counts German football club Arminia Bielefeld and Cologne-based Eat Happy Group among its customers. Co-founder and chief executive officer Jonas Morgner said Munich offers access to talent through Technical University of Munich, proximity to European customers, and closeness to enterprise software companies like SAP. Before founding Finto in 2025, the executive team held leadership roles at Tacto and TradeLink, which raised over $75 million from Sequoia, Index Ventures, and Insight Partners.
