  • ServSafe Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to stand or walk for 95% of the workday and frequently perform standing, reaching, lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, climbing, pushing, twisting, and pulling, including handling items weighing 40 pounds or less.
  • Ability to perform repetitive finger, hand, and wrist movements and use both hands to grasp, grip, move, or operate objects and equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written, graphic, and oral instructions in English.
  • Must travel to multiple schools within a reasonable geographic area, provide personal transportation, and maintain a flexible schedule based on worksite needs.
  • Ability to follow District policies and procedures and maintain strong organizational and time-management practices.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain daily meal counts and production records and understand regulations governing food preparation, temperatures, appearance, and portion sizes.
  • Set up and clean serving areas for timely student service, including dishwashing and sanitation of workstations.
  • Follow Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point procedures, operate kitchen equipment properly, clean equipment, and follow safety precautions.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system and reconcile monies daily for accuracy.
  • Open, close, cook, and serve meals in the absence of the Kitchen Manager as directed by the Area Manager.
  • Receive deliveries and store food and supplies as directed by the supervisor, including fresh, frozen, and dry goods.
  • Inventory food and supplies.
  • Participate in and lead training for kitchen staff and participate in PGI classes.
  • Complete all required United States Department of Agriculture professional standards training hours annually and pursue regulatory changes and sustainable solutions.
  • Serve meals while ensuring compliance with the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point plan and health department sanitation standards, including recording cooking and serving temperatures.
  • Prepare, serve, and sell meals in compliance with department regulations.
  • Follow menus, recipes, portion standards, and verbal instructions independently.
  • Wash, clean, peel, cut, and chop fresh fruits, vegetables, and meat items.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
