Requirements
  • Five or more years of professional experience in benefits administration for a medium to large organization.
  • Detailed knowledge of employee benefits and the regulations governing self-funded programs.
  • Knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations, filing requirements, and compliance requirements affecting benefit programs, including ERISA, HIPAA, ADA, ACA, workers’ compensation, COBRA, FMLA, IRS plan restrictions, and related regulations.
  • Experience with project and team management or leadership.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and databases such as UKG, ADP Reports, and PeopleSoft; proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Ability to create and comprehend reports and spreadsheets.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with internal and external employees and vendors.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and administer employee benefit plans, including enrollment, qualified status changes, open enrollment, and terminations.
  • Enter data based on employee elections, qualified status changes, and open enrollment.
  • Advise and counsel management and employees on existing benefit plans.
  • Research and correct benefit enrollment issues and benefit carrier file discrepancies.
  • Review billing statements for accuracy and investigate discrepancies for assigned benefit plans.
  • Provide vendors with appropriate documentation for enrollment and billing purposes.
  • Produce enrollment reports, including deductions and plan participation reports.
  • Maintain accurate records and interface with accounting and auditors.
  • Process the 401(k) plan interface with Fidelity, including timely and accurate uploads.
  • Collaborate with auditors during the annual 401(k) plan audit and ensure required documents are available.
  • Ensure facilities understand proper 401(k) plan administration procedures.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Human Resources team members and vendors to ensure timely nondiscrimination testing in accordance with regulations and plan documents.
  • Lead open enrollment projects, 1095-C filings, 5500 filings, and other benefit projects.
  • Analyze employee benefit utilization and assist with annual open enrollment, new benefit plans, and employee information sessions and events.
  • Assist in managing the benefit plan renewal process and develop implementation strategies with health insurance carriers and management.
  • Coordinate implementation of new carriers and products, including setup, system input, and benefit business processes and rules.
  • Resolve enrollment, transfer, and election issues with vendors.
  • Monitor and coordinate death-claim processing to ensure compliance with policies, contracts, laws, and regulations.
  • Create participant communications about plan changes and update the website.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory changes affecting benefits administration and provide timely updates to HR professionals.
  • Facilitate weekly meetings with the UKG benefits team to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Keep the supervisor informed of benefit-related concerns and collaborate on timely resolutions.
  • Analyze survey results and develop recommendations for management review.
  • Process medical support orders, evidence of insurability reports, COBRA billing administration, and leave-of-absence plan administration based on report output.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide customer service and build interdepartmental relationships.
  • Assist facility HR offices with complex benefit issues.
  • Ensure employee coverage changes are updated with benefit vendors in a timely manner.
  • Supervise maintenance of enrollment, application, and claims records for all benefit plans.
  • Develop and implement a benefit training program.
  • Maintain confidentiality while administering benefit programs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience in benefits administration.
  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration.
  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist, Professional in Human Resources, Senior Professional in Human Resources, or Certified Benefits Professional certification.
