About the Job

Requirements

  • Significant experience owning a complex technical product end-to-end.
  • Strong judgment and decisiveness under ambiguity, with the ability to balance ambition against technical, regulatory, and operational realities and hold their own with senior engineers.
  • Solid system-design foundation, including system boundaries, datastores, queues and workflows, APIs, failure modes, and consistency under concurrency.
  • Comfort reading, reviewing, and challenging design documents and sketching an architecture and sequence; no production coding is required, but sufficient technical depth to engage engineers without oversimplification.
  • Experience in a regulated or high-consequence domain such as payments, banking, remittance, or insurance, or demonstrable ability to ramp up quickly.
  • Understanding of why money movement requires correctness over convenience, accounts for irreversible states, and depends on partners outside one's control.
  • Hands-on experience with LLM-based products; ability to frame features for offline, online, and human-feedback evaluation; realistic understanding of hallucination, drift, and data gaps, including data-blocked versus model-blocked cases and when a model must not be involved.
  • Strong English communication, as English is the main working language across global teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own a product vertical end-to-end, including outcomes and metrics, a backlog prioritized by value, risk, dependency, and strategic priority, and acceptance criteria suitable for building and testing.
  • Shape technical design with engineering, covering system boundaries, money-movement correctness such as idempotency, ledgering, and reconciliation, third-party-rail reliance and rail-down behavior, failure, retry, and refund paths, security, latency, scalability, and recovery.
  • Make and defend trade-offs across correctness, speed, cost, reliability, and user experience with engineering, compliance, and operations stakeholders.
  • Treat regulated constraints as first-class product inputs, including licensing scope, CDD/KYC and limits, sanctions/PEP screening, transaction monitoring, data residency, and privacy; distinguish hard launch gates from forward-readiness requirements.
  • Apply AI where it improves outcomes; define what it may decide, when humans remain in the loop, how it is evaluated, and how it behaves when uncertain; ensure every AI-surfaced number traces back to a real record.
  • Ship against external gates by building feature-complete functionality behind flags and launching per rail as partner and regulatory gates clear.
  • Work across Engineering, Design, Compliance, Operations, Treasury, and Finance/Reconciliation.

Desired Qualifications

  • An engineering or highly technical product-management background.
  • Experience taking products from zero to one.
  • Experience shipping AI-heavy consumer products.
  • Experience defining evaluation metrics for machine-learning or LLM systems.
  • AI user-experience and failure-handling intuition.
  • Southeast Asia market experience.

About the Company

BJAK

Bjak.my runs Malaysia's leading online auto insurance marketplace and digital services platform, letting users compare and buy car and motor insurance from multiple insurers and renew road tax instantly.
