Requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to a secure government installation at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
  • Possess mandatory Environmental Protection Agency Section 608 Universal Certification.
  • Have 3–5+ years of experience in commercial or industrial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration service.
  • Read and interpret commercial blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Have a strong understanding of building automation system/direct digital control systems, including pneumatic and digital controls.
  • Safely lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders, work at heights, and perform duties in extreme temperatures or confined spaces.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record.
  • Explain complex technical issues to non-technical personnel.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control system issues to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Read and interpret commercial blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot building automation system/direct digital control systems, including pneumatic and digital controls.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
  • Support boiler, chiller, and stationary equipment operations as required.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including Environmental Protection Agency standards.
  • Communicate system conditions, repair needs, and corrective actions to facility staff and non-technical personnel.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and reports.
  • Perform duties in confined spaces, on rooftops, and in varying environmental conditions.
  • Maintain professionalism and reliability while working in a government and high-security environment.
Desired Qualifications
  • NATE, DC3, NIULPE, or state-specific HVAC licensing is highly preferred.
  • A Stationary Engineer License is highly preferred.
  • A Boiler Operator License is highly preferred.
  • Experience with a computerized maintenance management system is preferred.
