Anesthesia Veterinary Technician

We’re looking for an Anesthesia Technician to join our clinic team — someone who’s compassionate, detail-oriented and excited to make a difference in the lives of pets and their people. As an Anesthesia Technician, you’ll be a key member of our clinic team serving the Twin Cities metro area and greater Minnesota.

We provide subsidized spay/neuter surgeries and core vaccinations to thousands of cats and dogs across Minnesota through our mobile clinic and North Minneapolis stationary clinic. Since 2010, we’ve performed more than 200,000 surgeries in partnership with families, shelters and rescues.

Your responsibilities will include:

 •  Calculate, prepare, and administer injectable anesthesia, maintaining complete and accurate patient records and drug log 

 •  Managing the flow of surgery for each clinic

 •  Assist monitoring intraoperative and recovering patients, including vital signs (heart rate, respiratory rate, SpO2, and temperature), ensuring stability and readiness for discharge at the scheduled time 

 •  Performing brief physical exams on patients

 •  Assist with cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining the surgery suite in accordance with clinical protocols

Requirements

Who You Are:
You are someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. You communicate clearly, stay organized under pressure, and find purpose in helping others. You will be working with dozens of dogs and cats each day, so you’re an animal lover who’s not afraid of a little kitty hair or puppy drool. You have experience working with animals, are eager to learn, and are ready to hit the road as part of a dedicated team.

• Must currently hold a veterinary technician certification and be prepared to transition to state licensure as requirements evolve
• Animal handling skills and experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred but not required:
• A strong willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different clinic protocols.

• Technologically adept with a fast learning curve for new systems.

Here are some additional requirements we are looking for:
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted and 100+ lbs. assisted, with prolonged periods of standing and walking.

Emotional Demands:
Must be emotionally resilient and comfortable with the emotional aspects of veterinary work, including client communications and handling a variety of animals with diverse behavioral and medical needs.

Schedule and Attendance:
Required to be punctual for scheduled shifts during operational hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Attendance at regular team meetings and one-on-one meetings with direct leaders is necessary, and there may be a need to work at different sites or attend occasional off-site meetings and events.

Work Environment:
The environment can be dirty, wet, warm, and humid, with exposure to zoonotic diseases, pests such as fleas and ticks, unpleasant odors, chemicals, and noises, including barking. There is a possibility of being bitten or scratched, and exposure to extreme weather conditions such as cold, heat, rain, and snow when outside.
