Requirements
  • Currently hold a veterinary technician certification and be prepared to transition to state licensure as requirements evolve.
  • Have animal handling skills and experience.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and work effectively with others.
  • Maintain high attention to detail and stay organized under pressure.
  • Be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted and more than 100 pounds assisted, with prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Be emotionally resilient and comfortable with the emotional aspects of veterinary work, including client communications and handling animals with diverse behavioral and medical needs.
  • Be punctual for scheduled shifts, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Attend regular team meetings and one-on-one meetings with direct leaders.
  • Work at different sites and attend occasional off-site meetings and events as needed.
  • Be able to work in conditions involving dirt, water, heat, humidity, zoonotic diseases, fleas, ticks, odors, chemicals, noise, possible bites or scratches, and outdoor cold, heat, rain, and snow.
Responsibilities
  • Calculate, prepare, and administer injectable anesthesia while maintaining complete and accurate patient records and drug logs.
  • Manage the flow of surgery for each clinic.
  • Assist with monitoring intraoperative and recovering patients, including heart rate, respiratory rate, SpO2, and temperature, to ensure stability and readiness for discharge.
  • Perform brief physical examinations on patients.
  • Assist with cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining the surgery suite according to clinical protocols.
  • Represent MN SNAP’s mission with empathy and professionalism.
