About the Job

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics and at least 8 years of relevant experience, unless prohibited by local laws or regulations.
  • At least 8 years of experience in analog, digital, and power electronics design, integration, and production support; decomposition of high-level requirements into actionable electronics design and subsystem architecture; subsystem architectural design; or digital subsystems, systems engineering, requirements development and validation, circuit card assembly design, digital test integration, or digital supplier management on an effector-based product.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance before the start date; U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support digital design efforts for development guidance systems, focusing on designs containing field-programmable gate arrays.
  • Enhance electrical engineering skills by working with digital and/or analog hardware testing and debugging complex circuit card assemblies or electromechanical systems.
  • Support component-level design and test reviews.
  • Mentor and be mentored by other employees.
  • Collaborate with functional and program-level management, customers, and suppliers.
  • Travel as required by assignments, approximately 25%.
  • Work as a team member or guide a team through phases of the hardware systems lifecycle, including design and analysis; architecting electronic systems; developing and documenting subsystem requirements and test plans; conducting peer reviews as a subject matter expert; presenting to peers, management, and government customers; and investigating root-cause failures.

Desired Qualifications

  • Earned Value certification, as the role may include Control Account Management responsibilities.
  • Prior hands-on troubleshooting experience with digital and/or analog hardware, complex circuit card assemblies, or electromechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in digital design tools for circuit card assembly schematic capture, interconnect capture, and harness design.
  • Prior experience as a technical leader on a complex subsystem during the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development phase.
  • An advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related engineering degree.
  • A systems engineering thought process and an analytical skills background.
  • Ability to perform multidisciplinary work.
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting antennas, analog radio-frequency circuit cards, digital circuit cards, or configurable logic.
  • Experience in project leadership, systems engineering, and architecture, with a desire to grow to a higher level.
  • Ability to network with and influence other design and production support organizations, program leadership, other engineering disciplines, and manufacturing organizations.
  • Interpersonal skills for interacting positively with peers, suppliers, management, and customers in a production environment.
  • Experience balancing engineering process discipline and innovation for rapid development and program success.
  • Experience working with missiles or similar systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of mixed-signal electronics.
  • Practical experience in all phases of the product development lifecycle.
  • Experience developing proposals.
  • Experience leading large, complex trade studies.
  • Experience developing and materializing conceptual designs and integrating them into a system of systems.

About the Company

RTX

Manufactures jet engines, avionics, missiles

RTX operates in aerospace and defense with three main units: Pratt & Whitney jet engines, Collins Aerospace avionics and flight systems, and Raytheon defense systems. Jet engines provide thrust for commercial and military aircraft, avionics manage cockpit controls and navigation, and Raytheon builds missiles, radar, and sensing platforms. It differentiates itself by offering an integrated, end-to-end portfolio across both commercial aviation and national defense under one corporate roof, built on the legacy of Raytheon and UTC. Its goal is to help customers fly more efficiently and protect nations by advancing propulsion, electronics and defense tech for civilian and security needs.
