HackerRank operates a global platform that connects developers with employers by focusing on skills-based hiring. For developers, it offers practice problems, interview prep, and skill-building exercises. For companies, it provides tools to create coding tests that measure how candidates perform on real-world programming challenges, enabling data-driven hiring decisions. The platform reaches more than 3,000 companies worldwide, including a quarter of the Fortune 100, through its paid access to tests and the developer community. The key difference from competitors is the emphasis on evaluating practical programming skills with real-world problems at scale, supported by a large community and analytics that help compare candidates fairly. The company’s goal is to improve tech recruitment by validating skills rather than relying on resumes or generic signals, helping developers showcase ability and employers build strong engineering teams.
