About the job

Requirements
  • A BS or MS in a scientific, engineering, or health-related discipline is required; an advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or MBA) is a plus.
  • At least 15 years of biopharmaceutical industry experience, including at least 8 years in cross-functional program management on development-stage assets.
  • Experience as the Global Program Manager or equivalent program-level leader on a Global Program Team or equivalent core team for at least one asset in late-phase development (Phase 2b/3).
  • Experience leading development of an integrated development and commercialization plan for a late-phase asset, including facilitating cross-functional trade-offs and building alignment on the plan of record.
  • Experience preparing and presenting governance and stage-gate packages, including scenario and contingency options, to executive-level decision bodies.
  • Experience running cross-functional program and clinical team governance—including agendas, pre-reads, minutes, and decision and action logs—for a late-phase program, and keeping program and clinical teams aligned.
  • Deep understanding of how clinical, regulatory, CMC, medical affairs, and commercial workstreams interlock in late-phase development, regulatory submission, and launch, with the ability to anticipate issues and recommend mitigations across functions.
  • Experience managing partnered or in-licensed assets, including alliance governance and partner-company coordination.
  • Ability to lead through influence in a matrixed environment and run workstreams and cross-functional teams while personally delivering the work.
  • Experience in a smaller or high-growth biotech environment, or demonstrated ability to transition from large-company infrastructure to a resource-conscious, fast-moving setting.
  • Ability to think and act as the Global Program Head’s operational counterpart, hold the integrated view, and drive the program to decisions rather than only milestones.
  • Development judgment sufficient to challenge functional plans, spot critical-path risk early, and frame meaningful trade-offs.
  • Ability to translate program complexity into clear, executive-ready insight for the Executive Committee, Board, and alliance partners.
  • Ability to build psychological safety and shared accountability and design forums and norms that keep cross-functional teams decisive.
  • Disciplined documentation, risk governance, and version control, with a start-up sense of pace and resilience.
  • Commitment to ensuring program execution serves patients and their families.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Global Program Head’s strategic partner by developing and stress-testing program strategy, challenging assumptions, and translating strategy into executable integrated operating plans.
  • Integrate Global Program Team functions—including Clinical Development, Regulatory, CMC, Nonclinical, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Finance, and Legal—to facilitate timely decisions and resolve cross-functional dependencies, bottlenecks, and trade-offs before they become program risks.
  • Model shared accountability and a program-first mindset across the Global Program Team and its sub-teams.
  • Serve as a full-time core member of the Global Program Team and a core member of the Global Clinical Team; own agendas, circulate pre-reads, maintain decision and action logs, and ensure sessions conclude with decisions, owners, and dates.
  • Connect the Global Program Team and Global Clinical Team by carrying taskings and decision needs between them, and ensure recommendations are decision-ready with alternatives evaluated, functions consulted, disagreements identified, and implications for goals, budget, timelines, and risk explained.
  • Maintain the Integrated Development & Commercialization Plan as a living document and single source of truth for program status, decisions, and assumptions across governance bodies and function-led sub-teams.
  • Prepare governance packages for the Global Program Head to take to the Executive Committee and Monthly Portfolio Strategy, escalating changes to risk profile, timelines, cost, or opportunity potential as recommendations.
  • Apply RAPID decision rights so each decision has a single Recommender and Decider; own the program charter and seat list, run the annual review and team health assessment, and guard against re-litigating decisions, confusing decision rights, and escalating instead of solving.
  • Apply late-phase drug-development expertise—including Phase 3 design and execution, regulatory submission, CMC readiness, launch readiness, and lifecycle management—to identify risks and acceleration opportunities across the Integrated Development & Commercialization Plan.
  • Lead development and evolution of the Integrated Development & Commercialization Plan, driving functional input, surfacing and resolving trade-offs, assessing risk, building cross-functional alignment, and preparing the plan for recommendation by the Global Program Head to Monthly Portfolio Strategy.
  • Lead program-level planning for health authority submissions—including maintenance of the Investigational New Drug application, end-of-Phase 2 and pre-New Drug Application interactions, and New Drug Application planning and execution—in partnership with Regulatory Affairs.
  • Lead cross-functional launch-readiness planning in anticipation of potential approval.
  • Coordinate program deliverables, data exchanges, and alliance-agreement obligations with Regulatory Affairs, Legal, and functional leads, ensuring alliance commitments are tracked and reflected in integrated program plans.
  • Own integrated program timelines, critical path, budgets, and resource forecasts across functions, ensuring plans reflect current strategy and realistic assumptions.
  • Own core program documentation—including the Integrated Development & Commercialization Plan, Target Product Profile inputs, dashboards, risk registers, decision logs, and version-controlled program records—in accordance with company policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Lead scenario planning and contingency strategy, presenting alternative development and risk-management scenarios, options, and recommendations to the Global Program Team and senior leadership with executive-ready framing.
  • Own governance packages and milestone-readiness reviews, facilitate governance forums, and lead drafting executive materials so program decisions are framed with rigor, transparency, and strategic context.
  • Ensure the Global Program Team is ready at data readouts, health authority interactions, stage-gate decisions, and submission milestones.
  • Represent program health and the strategic narrative to the Executive Committee, Monthly Portfolio Strategy, and, when required, the Board of Directors; maintain a single source of truth for program status and decisions.
  • Facilitate stakeholder pre-alignment to support efficient decision-making and limit decision churn.
  • Create psychological safety and shared accountability across the Global Program Team and sub-teams; design meeting cadence, working norms, decision rights, and communication pathways that keep the team effective.
  • Design and facilitate workshops that advance strategy, align cross-functional operating activities, and drive outcomes.
  • Mentor and develop Global Program Managers and help build program-management capability, processes, and tools through standardization, simplification, and continuous improvement.
Desired Qualifications
  • Has taken an asset through regulatory submission (a New Drug Application or Biologics License Application) and U.S. launch as the Global Program Manager or a core program team member, owning or directly contributing to submission planning and launch-readiness workstreams.
  • Experience with small-molecule or oligonucleotide/RNA-targeted programs, or cardiovascular/cardiometabolic programs.
  • Experience leading or building a program-management function and developing program managers.
  • Project Management Professional certification or equivalent; experience with program and portfolio planning platforms.

What believers are saying

  • June 2026 IPO raised $460 million gross, lifting cash to $660.7 million.
  • August 2026: KINSHIP-DCM Phase 3 started, while KARDINAL-ASH enrolled its first patient.
  • ESC 2026 presentations and 1H 2027 topline data keep multiple catalysts ahead.

What critics are saying

  • Kardigan reported $116.2 million Q2 2026 losses, burning IPO cash quickly.
  • All three programs need successful 1H 2027 readouts; one failure could erase valuation.
  • No product revenue exists; another financing round before 2028 would dilute shareholders.

What makes Kardigan unique

  • Tassos Gianakakos and Jay Edelberg built MyoKardia’s mavacamten playbook, then Kardigan.
  • Kardigan pairs Prolaio AI with late-stage cardio trials for narrower, faster registrational studies.
  • Danicamtiv, ataciguat, and tonlamarsen target separate unmet cardiovascular niches without approved therapies.

Kardigan appoints Google finance executive Kristin Reinke to Board of Directors.

Kardigan appoints Google finance executive Kristin Reinke to Board of Directors. September 30, 2026 Kristin Reinke Kardigan Inc. has appointed longtime Google finance executive Kristin Reinke to its Board of Directors, where she will serve as Chair of the Audit Committee as the precision cardiovascular company advances its late-stage pipeline and continues its evolution as a public company. Reinke's appointment is effective Sept. 29. Doug Giordano, a founding member of Kardigan's board, is stepping down on the same date. Reinke is currently Vice President of Finance at Google, where she leads efforts to apply artificial intelligence to modernize and scale the company's finance organization. She has been a member of Google's finance leadership team since 2005, with responsibilities over the years spanning global financial planning and analysis, capital allocation and controllership. Her appointment adds experience in financial governance and technology-enabled operations to Kardigan's board as the Nasdaq-listed biotechnology company works to advance its cardiovascular drug pipeline toward potential commercialization. "Kristin's proven track record leading AI-driven transformation at global scale will be a great asset to help us achieve our mission of changing the future of cardiovascular care," said Tassos Gianakakos, Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Board of Kardigan. Kardigan also expects Reinke's technology background to support its integration of Prolaio's data and analytics platform into the company's product development operations. The company is developing an integrated approach that combines cardiovascular biology, real-world patient data and advanced analytics to inform drug discovery and clinical development. Its pipeline focuses on cardiovascular diseases for which no approved treatments currently exist. "Her experience turning technology into an operational advantage will be invaluable as we integrate Prolaio's data and analytics platform into our product development, and her financial governance expertise will help guide our late-stage pipeline toward potential commercialization," Gianakakos said. Reinke joined Google when the company was considerably earlier in its development and has remained with its finance organization as the business expanded into a multibillion-dollar global enterprise. Before Google, she held leadership positions at Oracle and began her career at Arthur Andersen. Reinke also serves as an independent director of Everly Health, where she chairs the Audit Committee. She is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Michigan State University. Her appointment comes alongside the departure of Giordano, whom Gianakakos credited for his role in the company's development as a founding board member. "We also would like to thank Doug, a founding member of our Board, for his profound impact over the last few years," Gianakakos said. Kardigan, which trades on Nasdaq under the ticker KARD, is a clinical-stage precision cardiovascular company developing therapies designed to address the underlying causes of cardiovascular diseases. The company is using patient data and analytics alongside its cardiovascular research capabilities to support more targeted drug development. With Reinke taking leadership of the Audit Committee, Kardigan is adding public-company financial oversight and large-scale technology experience to its board as it prepares its development programs for their next stages and builds the infrastructure required for potential commercialization.

Kardigan makes strong Nasdaq debut following upsized IPO.

Kardigan makes strong Nasdaq debut following upsized IPO. Kardigan delivered a notable market debut on the Nasdaq, raising $400m in an upsized initial public offering. Shares of the cardiovascular treatment specialist opened at $16.25, above the $16 IPO price, before climbing more than 22% during the session. This performance underscores a resurgence in investor appetite for biotechnology firms boasting advanced clinical programs and robust growth prospects. Published on 06/18/2026 at 03:52 pm EDT Based in Princeton, New Jersey, Kardigan is developing several precision therapies for cardiovascular diseases. Its pipeline notably includes drug candidates danicamtiv, ataciguat, and tonlamarsen. Management has indicated that pivotal data regarding these three programs are expected during the first half of next year. The company was founded by Tassos Gianakakos and Jay Edelberg, two former executives who played key roles in the development of the heart medication mavacamten at MyoKardia, which was acquired by Bristol Myers Squibb for $13bn in 2020. This transaction takes place within a more favorable environment for biotech IPOs following several years defined by tighter access to capital. However, analysts point out that Kardigan may require additional financing in the medium term. The company stated in its regulatory filings that its current resources would not be sufficient to fund operations for at least twelve months without further capital injections, even though the funds raised are intended to accelerate the development of its clinical programs.
