Herself Health provides primary care tailored for women aged 65 and older. It accepts traditional Medicare, Medicare Supplements, and most Medicare Advantage plans to ensure access. The practice starts with a comprehensive welcome visit where a medical assistant and doctor review health history, perform exams, and set personal health goals, followed by in-house labs for quick screenings. Ongoing preventive care is delivered through unrushed, personalized visits with clinicians trained in women’s health for seniors. Revenue comes from insurance reimbursements, while the model emphasizes building trust by inviting prospective patients to meet the clinicians in person. The goal is to improve quality of life by aligning life goals with health goals and delivering proactive, patient-centered care that addresses the unique needs of senior women.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • November 2025 Midi collaboration expands reach across midlife and older women.
  • The January 2026 membership monetizes non-Medicare patients at $99 monthly.
  • Company-owned mammography and DEXA should increase retention and downstream visit volume.

What critics are saying

  • Revenue depends on Medicare Advantage contracting and reimbursement rates in Minnesota.
  • Five-clinic geography keeps Herself Health exposed to one-market saturation and referral competition.
  • If Medicare economics deteriorate, the membership model and clinic expansion lose viability.

What makes Herself Health unique

  • Herself Health focuses exclusively on women 65+, a neglected primary-care segment.
  • It combines in-person and virtual care across five Twin Cities clinics as of November 2025.
  • Its January 2026 membership adds 50–64 care, mammography, and DEXA screening.

Herself Health, Providing Primary Care To Women 65 And Over, Raises $26M

Kristen Helton is no stranger to the healthcare needs of patients. After co-founding biosensor company Profusa, she went on to work at Amazon, where she helped found and lead the company’s Amazon Care division in 2019.During the next three years, there was a focus on creating a positive experience for patients. And though the company deployed a feedback loop in order to make experiences even better, Helton found that patients would still say they weren’t satisfied. When Amazon Care shut down in 2022, Helton decided to find a way to address that dissatisfaction, focusing on a demographic where she felt care was lacking: care for women aged 65 and older. She founded Herself Health last year, touting it as “the first healthcare company” built just for this population of patients.“Women are not feeling heard, and they’re not well served,” Helton told TechCrunch. “It takes a long time to get an appointment with their doctor, and women are feeling rushed to tell them everything in 10 minutes. As a result, they don’t feel well cared for and pushed to the next step without their doctors having the time to really understand what their needs are. And, these women have very unique issues.”Even though healthcare is moving toward personalization, senior care is not immune to gender disparities
