  • At least 5 years of experience leading teams, including managers of frontline teams.
  • A track record of reducing support contacts per customer and improving activation through automation, self-service, and product changes rather than increased headcount.
  • Experience scaling onboarding and support for high-volume, self-service, or small and medium-sized business customers.
  • Strong operational analytics skills, including contact drivers, time to activate, first-contact resolution, customer satisfaction, cost to serve, and capacity planning.

  • Experience using artificial intelligence and artificial intelligence-related technologies, with the ability to apply them to business challenges and improve efficiency and results.
Responsibilities
  • Own the customer's first 90 days by leading onboarding and go-live from signup through the first successful filing, defining and measuring activation, and removing friction that slows customers down or sends them to support.
  • Lead support teams for DAVO and MyLodgeTax, build out MyLodgeTax support as the portfolio grows, set service standards, staffing models, and quality measures, and address recurring customer contacts as problems to eliminate.
  • Lead the team handling tax registrations for MyLodgeTax customers and partner with Product and Engineering to automate registration operations so the team can focus on exceptions requiring human attention.
  • Build a feedback loop between operations and the product team by identifying issues that drive contacts, onboarding steps that lose customers, and fixes with the fastest payoff; bring data to roadmap discussions.
  • Partner with Avalara's filing, payments, and notices teams to provide a seamless end-to-end customer experience.
  • Hire, lead, and develop managers and frontline teams; set clear goals and decision rights; and run operating reviews, dashboards, and service metrics.
  • Apply artificial intelligence daily to business challenges, improve efficiency, contribute solutions, drive results, stay current on trends and best practices, and share learning with others.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of tax, accounting, payments, point-of-sale systems, hospitality, or short-term rentals.
  • Experience running registration, filing, or other regulated, deadline-driven operations.
  • Experience using artificial intelligence to scale operations through support deflection, triage, agent assistance, or workflow automation.
  • Experience with partner-led or embedded products where onboarding runs through a third-party platform.

Fran's Chocolates saves up to $120,000 a year with Avalara tax automation and AI agent

Fran's Chocolates, a Seattle-based gourmet chocolatier, has automated its multistate sales tax compliance with Avalara. It was also among the first customers worldwide to beta test Avalara Aviator, the company's new agent hub for tax and compliance, Avalara announced on October 22, 2026. As e-commerce and wholesale sales grew nationwide, Fran's crossed economic nexus thresholds in more states, and manual processes became harder to manage. It adopted Avalara AvaTax for tax calculations, Managed Returns for filing and remittance, and Exemption Certificate Management for tracking certificates. The chocolatier says it saves up to $120,000 a year in salary and benefits by avoiding extra full-time hires. Automated tax classification across more than 900 SKUs has reclaimed more than 100 hours a year, and its financial close cycles are shorter. "The agent does the scanning, and we decide what to act on," said Ken Harrison, senior accountant at Fran's Chocolates.

Otelier and Avalara launch two-way integration to automate hotel tax compliance

Otelier, a hospitality data platform, has launched a two-way integration with tax compliance firm Avalara. It connects Avalara's tax tools with Otelier Rec, helping hotel finance teams automate lodging tax compliance. Daily revenue summaries and exemption details flow from Otelier Rec to Avalara, which prepares, files, and remits sales and lodging tax returns. Rec flags any gaps between Avalara's verified tax rates and those applied in a hotel's property management system, so staff can fix them before filing. Otelier also added a workflow that requires users to record a reason for each tax-exempt line item. The integration is certified and being piloted by a leading hotel management company. It is now available to hotel companies.

Avalara launches AI tool for enterprise system links.

Avalara launches AI tool for enterprise system links. Fri, 25th Sep 2026 (Today) Avalara has launched Versori by Avalara, a product designed to help organisations connect enterprise systems to its tax and compliance software. Available through Avalara's developer portal, the product is aimed at developers and partners building links between tax tools and wider business software. Businesses often run a mix of enterprise resource planning software, billing systems, eCommerce applications and custom-built technology. Connecting those systems can require significant engineering work, especially when companies update software, add new platforms or change internal processes. AI integration tool Versori by Avalara uses specialised artificial intelligence agents to handle different stages of that integration work. It is intended to reduce the time needed to research requirements, establish system connections, generate code and prepare connectors for live deployment. The launch reflects a wider push by software companies to use AI for technical development tasks that have traditionally required large teams of specialists. Integration work has become a recurring pain point because it often sits between core systems and can slow broader software projects. According to Avalara, the product uses four AI agents across the integration process: Plan, Connect, Build and Deploy. The Plan agent analyses endpoint schemas, application programming interface contracts and compliance requirements to define the integration architecture. Connect handles authentication and system handshakes between platforms, including ERP systems, billing engines, eCommerce software and custom databases. Build generates transformation logic, mapping rules and error-handling code. Deploy runs automated testing, checks the resulting connector against Avalara certification benchmarks and publishes it for use. Code transparency provided Avalara said customers and partners retain access to the generated connector code and underlying business logic. That is likely to matter for companies that want visibility into how integrations are built or need to adapt them over time. Hugo Sarrazin, Chief Executive Officer of Avalara, described the product as a way to remove a common hurdle in tax and compliance projects. "Businesses should not have to spend significant engineering time just to connect tax and compliance to the systems where they already work," said Hugo Sarrazin, Chief Executive Officer, Avalara. "Versori by Avalara changes that equation. Specialised AI agents can research, build, test and deploy production-grade connectors in days, giving developers and partners a dramatically faster path to bring Avalara into virtually any enterprise system," said Sarrazin. "For customers, that means less integration work, faster time to value and greater freedom to use the technology that works for their business," added Sarrazin. Avalara positioned the product as an alternative to generic code-generation tools and fixed templates. Instead, the software is built around AI agents assigned to distinct tasks within the integration lifecycle. That approach points to a more specific use of AI than broad productivity tools that draft code or documentation. Here, Avalara is targeting a narrow but commercially important area where tax and compliance software must work reliably with the systems customers already use to run finance, sales and online transactions. Expanding partner capabilities The launch also underlines the importance of partner ecosystems for software vendors selling into complex business environments. By giving external developers tools to build connectors more quickly, vendors can expand the number of systems their products can reach without creating every integration internally. Avalara said it supports millions of businesses worldwide and processes more than 54 billion AvaTax API calls each year. Those volumes help explain why integration work matters to the company, as tax calculation and compliance software often has to sit inside transaction-heavy business workflows. Users of the developer portal can access documentation and training related to the new product. The aim is to let developers move from integration requirements to a connector that meets Avalara's certification standards with less manual work. Avalara has spent more than two decades building tax content, compliance data and related software tools. The latest launch shows how established business software providers are applying AI to technical bottlenecks that can affect implementation costs, project timing and customer adoption. Versori by Avalara is intended to give developers and partners a faster route to connect Avalara services with enterprise systems.
