About the job

Requirements
  • At least 10 years of experience in operations, strategy, or business leadership, with a proven track record of leading large-scale, high-impact consumer growth initiatives.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams, including leading through managers.
  • Demonstrated ability to tackle complex, ambiguous problems and develop practical, scalable solutions at pace.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with the analytical skills to make investment and capital-allocation trade-offs using data.
  • Proven ability to build and manage relationships with senior leaders and influence decisions at the highest organizational levels without direct authority.
  • Experience communicating and presenting complex problems concisely to executive audiences.
  • Ability to build relationships across diverse, cross-functional, and multi-country teams.
Responsibilities
  • Own the central consumer strategy for One Delivery across Restaurants, Grocery, and Retail in APAC, leading an approximately 12-person team across Membership, Consumer Strategy, Lifecycle & Investment, Growth Bets/XLOB & Partnerships, and Core Consumer.
  • Lead, develop, and scale a multi-layer organization across five consumer domains, including managing and coaching domain leads.
  • Own APAC Uber One as the region's dedicated membership engine by recommending strategy, pricing, benefit construct, targets, and budget asks for GM decision, then executing productized and GCRM-led acquisition, engagement, and retention campaigns and overall membership campaign strategy.
  • Support capital allocation for eater investments by managing measurement, tracking, and the allocation framework.
  • Deliver high-level go-to-market plans for APAC Growth Bets, and enable strategic partnerships through opportunity identification and regional playbooks.
  • Own the APAC consumer and membership product verticals, including discovery, merchandising, share of voice, affordability visibility, and core app usability across restaurants, grocery, and retail; lead interactions with Global Product to prioritize APAC requests and secure roadmap outcomes.
  • Define and continuously refine the division of responsibilities between Central and Local Consumer Ops, ensuring central standards create leverage rather than duplicate country-level work.
  • Establish centers of excellence, playbooks, and automation that enable APAC teams to do common work once and well, including in new and sparse markets, freeing local teams for hyperlocal execution.
  • Serve as a senior partner to the Regional GM, country GMs, local consumer operations leads, Marketplace Operations, Merchant Operations, Marketing, Strategic Finance, and Product, turning their inputs into decision-ready recommendations.
  • Shape the APAC consumer agenda and drive outcomes through cross-functional partnerships, including Product.
  • Establish frameworks, guardrails, and shared infrastructure to guide APAC markets; oversee regional capital-allocation governance for consumer investment and bring Grocery and Retail into a unified consumer operating model.
Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated success designing and executing growth strategy across a multi-country portfolio in a complex, fast-paced marketplace.
  • Ability to balance growth and profitability using data-driven insights and analytics.
  • Experience in online food delivery and/or retail or Q-commerce industries.
  • An MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field.

Uber's 12.1% operating margin tops rivals, but investors pay less for it than for JB Hunt

Uber Technologies keeps a larger share of sales as operating profit than four rivals in ride-hailing, delivery and freight. Its operating margin reached 12.1% over the past twelve months, up from a loss equal to 1.6% of sales three years ago. Free cash flow topped $10 billion for the first time. Yet investors pay less per dollar of Uber's earnings than for three peers. Uber trades at 15.2 times earnings, against 32.0 for JB Hunt and 99.7 for DoorDash. Uber stock fell 23.6% over twelve months, while JB Hunt rose 68.4%. Revenue growth slowed to 12.2% in the second quarter of 2026, while gross bookings grew 22%. Management blamed part of the gap on a UK business model change. Uber plans to invest $10 billion in autonomous vehicles. It has not yet sized the effect on profit.

Uber and Pony.ai to launch robotaxis in London

Uber and Chinese autonomous vehicle company Pony.ai plan to launch a robotaxi service in London, expanding their partnership into Europe. The companies will begin testing Pony.ai's Gen-7 robotaxis in the city in the coming weeks. The announcement follows Uber's strategy of partnering with over 30 autonomous vehicle firms to capture market share in autonomous delivery and ride-hailing. Uber expects to offer autonomous vehicle trips in 15 cities globally by the end of 2026. Uber and Pony.ai first partnered in May 2025, initially focusing on the Middle East. They plan to deploy 2,000 robotaxis across Europe, starting with Zagreb, where they launched a service in August 2026 with partner Verne. Uber also plans a separate London robotaxi service with British startup Wayve.

Uber invests in Croatian robotaxi provider Verne, deepens Zagreb partnership

Uber has invested in Croatian robotaxi provider Verne, CEO Dara Khosrowshahi confirmed following a visit to Zagreb where he completed a fully driverless ride. The investment deepens the partnership between the companies, which launched a commercial robotaxi service in Zagreb in April covering approximately 90 square kilometres. Since August, Verne's autonomous vehicles have been bookable through the Uber app. The service currently uses Arcfox Alpha T5 vehicles equipped with Pony.ai's Gen-7 autonomous driving system. Verne is developing its own purpose-built robotaxi—an electric two-seater without steering wheel or pedals, based on Mobileye Drive technology. By end-2025, the company had completed 60 verification prototypes. Verne co-founder Mate Rimac indicated further joint expansion plans beyond Croatia, with negotiations underway for deployments in additional European cities, the UK, and the Middle East.
