About the job

Requirements
  • At least 3 years of professional experience.
  • Extensive background operating or supporting data migration processes in production environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging abilities, including independently analyzing issues through logs and data before escalating.
  • Thorough understanding of databases, SQL, data validation, and integrity checks.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting backend or scripting code such as PHP, Python, or similar languages.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure and associated operational tools.
  • Practical experience handling logs, monitoring systems, and observability tools.
  • Proficiency with Git-based source control systems such as GitHub.
  • Capability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritize effectively under pressure, maintain composure, and adapt when plans change.
  • Experience using JIRA or comparable ticketing systems within structured delivery frameworks.
  • Skills in stakeholder management and direct collaboration with customer-facing teams.
  • Background in incident management or operational triage in production settings.
  • Awareness of customer impact during operational decisions and empathy toward the end-user experience.
  • Proactive attitude, sound judgment, ownership, and commitment to continuous improvement by learning from achievements and setbacks.
Responsibilities
  • Execute and monitor data migrations across multiple products and countries, owning outcomes end-to-end using existing user-interface tooling.
  • Triage migration issues, resolve them independently when possible, and escalate with clear context when needed.
  • Perform root cause analysis on failed or delayed migrations, identify recurring failure patterns and systemic issues, run post-incident reviews, and apply lessons to prevent recurrence.
  • Define and maintain triage frameworks, severity classifications, prioritization criteria, and escalation paths.
  • Drive process improvements and provide structured, prioritized requirements to the Migration Platform team.
  • Improve observability across the migration pipeline through logs, dashboards, and alerts to support faster diagnosis and resolution.
  • Manage data integrity checks and validate successful data transfers.
  • Own operational readiness for large-scale and time-sensitive migration windows, including risk assessments, checklists, and go/no-go decisions; adapt plans when circumstances change during migration.
  • Maintain and improve migration operational documentation, playbooks, and best practices.
  • Ensure migrations meet defined service-level agreements and quality benchmarks, and contribute to defining those standards.
  • Act as the migration function’s primary liaison with Onboarding and Support teams, proactively driving communication.
  • Flag migration risks, blockers, and timeline impacts to Onboarding teams, manage expectations, and negotiate timelines when needed.
  • Partner with Support to investigate and resolve post-migration issues and ensure timely customer outcomes.
  • Build working relationships with customer-facing teams to understand schools’ perspectives and feed those insights into migration prioritization and execution.
  • Run or contribute to regular cross-team syncs with Onboarding and Support to maintain alignment and surface issues early; ask questions to uncover root causes rather than symptoms.
  • Provide structured, prioritized operational feedback to the Migration Platform team and represent operations in platform decisions.
  • Communicate migration status, risks, and decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, tailoring complex issue updates to the audience.
  • Participate in technical talks and team-based learning, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Set operational quality standards, review others’ work, and define expectations for good migration operations.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced team members in migration best practices, triage, and escalation; provide structured, constructive feedback that recognizes strengths and gives actionable development suggestions.
  • Shape team processes and operational standards and drive continuous improvement.
  • Seek feedback from peers, stakeholders, and teams to improve personal performance and operational processes.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in SaaS environments.
  • Exposure to education technology, school MIS systems, or data migrations between competing platforms.
  • Experience working with large datasets.
  • Understanding of service-level agreements, operational metrics, and service reliability concepts.
  • Experience in high-volume or time-pressured operational environments.

Office adds up to growth for school software firm.

Office adds up to growth for school software firm. An education software firm says it has laid foundations for growth with an office deal. Arbor Education is moving into Leeds' 34 Boar Lane. Bosses say the site represents a "real investment in its people (and provides) a home that matches its ambition". The company - known for school information management systems - has taken a 9764sq ft base on a ten-year lease in the city hub, which stands close to Leeds' railway station and is owned by Kinrise. Lewis Tasker, Arbor Education chief people officer, said: "As we continue to grow, we wanted a home in Leeds that matches our ambition and gives our team a workplace they can be proud of, and this building does exactly that. "Everything we do comes back to supporting schools and teachers, and attracting and retaining brilliant people is how we keep delivering for them. George Aberdeen, Kinrise co-founder, said: "Securing Arbor Education as a tenant is a great outcome. "Arbor's mission to make life easier for schools and teachers is one we're genuinely pleased to be part of. "It is exactly the kind of occupier we want to see in our portfolio." The 34 Boar Lane building is being marketed by Knight Frank. Eamon Fox, partner and head of office at the commercial property firm's Leeds base, added: "This significant deal is a resounding endorsement of the quality of this magnificent building. "Arbor Education is a proven leader in its specialist field and one of the fastest-growing and most progressive education software companies in the UK."
