Requirements
  • A doctoral degree with a Nurse Anesthesia major from a regionally accredited institution and nationally accredited nurse anesthesia program, or equivalent.
  • Three or more years of clinical experience in the certified registered nurse anesthetist role.
  • A current unrestricted Advanced Practice Nurse license in Florida or eligibility for licensure.
  • Current certified registered nurse anesthetist certification from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Knowledge of nursing and clinical nursing practice, major concepts and processes central to the discipline, digital and interactive technologies, critical-thinking processes, inquiry-based instructional models, computer applications and web-based tools, and teaching modalities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally; collaborate with internal and external stakeholders; contribute to student recruitment, retention, and support; and work effectively across teams.
  • Ability to use technology in face-to-face, synchronous online, and asynchronous online teaching.
  • Ability to meet goals, remain accountable, and approach challenges strategically and creatively.
Responsibilities
  • Teach graduate-level courses in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Nurse Anesthesiology Program and other graduate nursing courses as needed.
  • Mentor students completing the Doctor of Nursing Practice project.
  • Conduct clinical teaching, simulation laboratories, and advising.
  • Conduct scholarship in accordance with faculty performance and college requirements.
  • Provide service to the school, college, university, and professional community through committees and accreditation activities.
  • Plan, prepare, and teach assigned courses, including developing syllabi, instructional materials, and assessments.
  • Deliver interactive lectures aligned with curriculum goals and accreditation standards.
  • Maintain classroom instruction standards and conduct reflective self-assessment for continuous improvement.
  • Hold regular office hours and provide academic advising and individual student support.
  • Use the university learning management system and other instructional technologies.
  • Collaborate with departmental faculty on curriculum development and program advancement.
  • Ensure curriculum outcomes and accreditation standards are met.
  • Establish and maintain an active research program, including undergraduate student involvement.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and meetings.
  • Contribute to community, institutional, and professional service.
  • Participate in faculty evaluation, student learning assessment, and required training activities.
  • Communicate professionally and promptly with students, colleagues, staff, and administrators.
  • Comply with university policies, procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience as a faculty member in a college- or university-level nursing education program.
  • Experience with virtual or distance teaching platforms.
  • Experience with simulation in education.
  • Evidence of scholarship leading to professional presentations, research, or publications.
  • Service in professional organizations, including membership or committee involvement.
  • Bilingual or multilingual ability, with Spanish preferred.
