  • Experience and solid commercial understanding of at least one European power market is essential for the role;
  • Knowledge of the UK/other European power or gas markets is beneficial but not essential if you are eager to learn;
  • Experience with stack modelling and curve simulation would be advantageous;
  • Strong aptitude in SQL and Python for analysis and pipeline development;
  • Team player excited at the idea of ownership across lots of different projects and tools;
  • Open to travelling to Octopus offices across Europe and the US;
  • You have a drive to keep up to date with industry standards, best practices, and available market data.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor market changes to ensure our risk pipelines are accurate for each Octopus geography;
  • Develop and implement logic for producing accurate forward price curves;
  • Work with the trading team to highlight areas of risk that may impact their decisions;
  • Work with the Power Purchase Agreement team to ensure we’re using the most appropriate price curves as a basis for contracts with generators;
  • Help to globalise the existing platform as we expand our codebase to enhance our view of risk across the wider Octopus Group.
