King & Spalding taps Thomsons for life sciences partner.

King & Spalding taps Thomsons for life sciences partner. The firm has strengthened its life sciences, regulatory and litigation offerings with a new partner hire in Sydney. King & Spalding has hired regulatory and disputes lawyer Mandi Jacobson as a partner in its government matters and regulation practice group, effective 20 August. Jacobson joins King & Spalding's Sydney office - which launched in October 2025 and marked the firm's official entrance into the national market - following a brief year-long stint at Thomsons. With more than two decades' experience, Jacobson advises clients operating across the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, consumer products and medical devices sectors on various compliance, regulatory and contentious issues. Her work includes advising multinational companies on complex regulatory regimes and risk management across multiple jurisdictions, and representing them in litigation spanning regulatory enforcement actions, product liability disputes, class actions and coronial inquests. In a statement, Jacobson said King & Spalding was "a natural destination", pointing to the firm's "truly distinctive" Australian platform and focus on providing US and international clients "with the best on-the-ground lawyers for their most sophisticated legal issues". She further noted the firm's "direct access to market-leading regulatory, litigation and transactional capabilities across the world" and its "wider Asia-Pacific footprint and ever-growing international platform". Jacobson spent the first decade of her legal career at Clayton Utz and King & Wood Mallesons before joining Baker McKenzie in 2015. She later moved to Hogan Lovells (Hogan Lovells Cadwalader) before arriving at Thomson Geer (now Thomsons) in April 2025. King & Spalding's Sydney office managing partner commented: "Mandi's deep experience adds to our strength in covering complex regulatory investigations and commercial disputes for our multinational clients. In particular, Mandi's life sciences credentials build on our strategy of expanding our core areas of focus in the Sydney office, supplementing our technology, energy, disputes, life sciences and global human capital capabilities."
