Requirements
  • Completion of four years of high school or equivalent, plus specialized courses and training.
  • National third-party medical assistant certification, such as AMCA, AAMA, AMT, CCMA (NHA certification), or NCMA (NCCT certification), is required within thirteen months of hire for a non-certified Medical Assistant.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent medical office practice experience is required.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19, or qualify for an exemption for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying the choice to be exempt once hired.
Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of medical assisting duties within and in support of the assigned medical offices under the direction of the Office Manager, Clinical Coordinator, or designee and the Medical Assistant Group Supervisory Agreement.
  • Provide care and treatment for patients under the supervision of primary care providers and nurses, collaborating with clinic team members, patients, and families.
  • Assist providers with patient care and procedures.
  • Facilitate efficient patient flow through the clinic or medical office.
  • Communicate with patients by telephone as needed, including communicating test results, surgery schedules, and procedures, and providing appropriate counsel and follow-up under a designated supervisor’s direction.
  • Use an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and related software to update or access patient information as appropriate.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Provide medical interpretation in a language other than English for the practice office as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and/or health-related computer software is preferred.
  • One year of medical assisting work experience is preferred.
  • Fluency in a language other than English and medical interpreting are preferred.
  • Other certifications based on practice specialty may be preferred.
