Requirements
  • Two to five years of experience in data center installation, structured cabling, or telecommunications deployment.
  • Experience performing full row installations and installation quality assurance and quality control activities.
  • A high school diploma, general education degree, or related trade school education.
  • Must have or obtain and maintain an OSHA 10 Construction Training Card.
  • Must have or obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling systems and installation standards.
  • Proficiency with copper and fiber optic infrastructure, including MPO, LC, single-mode/multimode fiber, and Cat6/Cat6A systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineered drawings, floor plans, and installation documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of cable management, grounding and bonding, bend radius, and labeling standards.
  • Experience with fiber cleaning, inspection, and continuity testing.
  • Must pass pre-employment background and drug testing.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, bend, climb, and work overhead for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely use ladders, lifts, and power tools.
  • Ability to work in active construction and live data center environments.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work long and unpredictable hours and flexible schedules, including nights and weekends as required.
  • Ability to travel regionally and nationally up to 75% of the time.
Responsibilities
  • Independently install and align server cabinets, network racks, ladder rack, containment systems, and supporting infrastructure according to engineered drawings and floor plans.
  • Perform full row installations and validate layouts using field measurements and project documentation.
  • Install overhead ladder rack, basket tray, conveyance systems, and fiber trough infrastructure.
  • Pull, route, terminate, and dress copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling according to customer and industry standards.
  • Install patch panels, splice trays, enclosures, rPDUs, tap boxes, cable whips, FAP panels, and DC loop systems.
  • Rack and secure servers, switches, storage arrays, optical transport equipment, and related hardware.
  • Perform fiber cleaning, inspection, continuity testing, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Maintain ownership of quality assurance and quality control processes, including punch lists, installation verification, and closeout activities.
  • Interpret engineered drawings, methods of procedure, and scopes of work to ensure proper installation execution.
  • Create and maintain accurate labeling, redlines, and as-built documentation.
  • Support and mentor Technician I team members.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, including proper housekeeping of tools, materials, and installation debris.
  • Follow company safety policies, customer site requirements, and established safe work practices.
  • Accurately complete and submit timecards and other required administrative records.
  • Travel regularly to job sites, which may include overnight stays.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in colocation or hyperscale environments.
  • Familiarity with switches, network equipment, and optical transport systems.
  • Exposure to busway, remote power panels, power distribution units, and remote power distribution units.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accountability for installation quality.
  • Ability to mentor less experienced technicians and support team development.
  • Ability to prioritize work in fast-paced deployment schedules.
