Requirements
  • Completion of residency training in a primary care specialty such as Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics.
  • Knowledge of disease prevention and health-promotion needs of late-adolescent and adult patients.
  • Knowledge and experience treating common acute and chronic illnesses and injuries.
  • Skill in interviewing patients to understand their medical and psychosocial needs and counseling them regarding acute and chronic medical problems.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and provide medical treatment to a diverse student population.
  • Ability to work as part of a clinical team with physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff, and provide effective consultation to them.
  • Ability to work effectively with staff from diverse cultural, ethnic, racial, and sexual-orientation backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of student-health policies and procedures and the healthcare needs of a college campus.
  • Knowledge of legal and professional requirements for quality patient care.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work amid competing deadlines and interruptions, work independently, and follow through with minimal direction.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems, interpret policies, and demonstrate subject-matter knowledge.
  • Leadership skills supporting the organization's strategic direction.
  • Ability to assess, monitor, and manage employee performance.
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited medical or osteopathic school.
  • Current California medical license.
  • Board certification in an applicable primary care specialty such as Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
  • Satisfactory background investigation, Live Scan background check, pre-placement physical examination, and TB test are required for employment.
  • The employee must sign the CANRA statement acknowledging the requirement to report child abuse.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants who deliver day-to-day healthcare and medical services in Primary Care Units, including Continuity, Triage, Immunization, and RN Services.
  • Serve as a member of the Medical Quality and Improvement Committee, Clinical Oversight Committee, Infection Control Committee, Quality Improvement Committee, and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
  • Conduct or participate in peer review, patient-satisfaction activities, physician-APP collaborative practice including furnishing, clinician professionalism and conduct, recruiting, credentialing, and assessment processes.
  • Ensure access and quality, oversee utilization, and participate in operational, resource-management, and compliance activities.
  • Provide direct patient care.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least three years of experience working as a primary care physician in an outpatient or urgent-care setting.
  • At least one year of experience as a direct supervisor or manager of clinicians.
