  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least two years of experience in the healthcare or nonprofit field are required.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively throughout all boroughs.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet departmental needs.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent with at least seven years of experience in the healthcare or nonprofit field may substitute for the Bachelor's degree.
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Audit experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Implement and develop regulatory compliance strategies and provide technical support and training to program staff.
  • Conduct Medicaid billing reviews to verify that documentation supports billing.
  • Review and audit the quality of clinical case documentation and services.
  • Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with regulatory mandates.
  • Conduct follow-up audits to confirm corrective actions have been implemented and are effective.
  • Draft written reports summarizing audit and review findings.
  • Help develop audit tools for audits and reviews.
  • Conduct compliance and documentation trainings for staff.
  • Help develop and update compliance and documentation training materials.
  • Conduct investigations into regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Draft investigation reports summarizing findings and recommending corrective actions.
  • Provide technical assistance to staff regarding documentation requirements and other compliance issues.
  • Develop, review, analyze, and improve internal controls and monitoring systems for programs and departments.
  • Identify compliance risk areas and assist with developing and implementing policies and corrective action plans.
  • Attend interdepartmental meetings representing the quality assurance department to ensure compliance with regulatory mandates.
  • Attend external meetings and trainings representing the agency at trade associations.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with individuals served, coworkers, and management, and maintain open communication with the supervisor about assignment completion and accuracy.
  • Listen and respond appropriately to others’ ideas, offer suggestions and alternative solutions, and give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Complete accurate, thorough, and timely work in accordance with agency and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Work independently to overcome challenges and meet performance objectives while maintaining quality and accuracy within deadlines.
  • Uphold personal and professional ethics and values, respect the culture, beliefs, and abilities of individuals served, and ensure compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Complete all assigned trainings.
  • Support team unity by sharing information and expertise, collaborating to solve problems, and prioritizing team success; attend and participate in departmental and team meetings.
  • Demonstrate initiative, maintain productivity, multitask, balance competing priorities, work with minimal supervision, and exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Adapt to changes in routines, assignments, and agency or client needs while remaining productive.
  • Apply relevant job knowledge and current best practices, stay aware of developments in the specialty area, and demonstrate expertise in relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate ideas and facts clearly and logically in writing using appropriate vocabulary, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
