Requirements
  • Possess at least 3–4 years of experience working with children ages 4–11 in academic or recreational settings, such as summer camp, after-school, or tutoring programs.
  • Possess at least 2 years of prior leadership experience leading a team of staff and/or programs with 50 or more children.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to work with children, staff, parents, and school partners.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate by email, Slack, in person, and by phone.
  • Demonstrate personal organizational skills, including independent time and task management, administrative record keeping, and data entry.
  • Demonstrate the ability to problem-solve quickly, communicate effectively, and exercise good judgment when operating a youth program.
  • Provide up-to-date physical examination and tuberculosis test documentation before starting.
  • Pass Federal and New York State background checks and complete New York City Department of Education fingerprinting before starting.
  • Be available during after-school hours Monday through Friday from September 2, 2026 through June 18, 2027.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods, including during outdoor activities, playground supervision, gym classes, or park-based programming.
  • Walk to and from nearby program locations or parks while supervising children.
  • Bend, kneel, crouch, and reach to engage with children or assist with activities.
  • Climb stairs in school buildings or community facilities.
  • Lift and carry up to 25–40 pounds of sports equipment, activity supplies, or personal belongings.
  • Participate in active games and movement-based activities, including running, jumping, throwing, and demonstrating basic sports skills.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, or light rain.
  • Maintain visual and auditory awareness to supervise children effectively and ensure safety in active environments.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the lead on-site representative at a designated after-school site, overseeing program structure, transitions, and schedules.
  • Supervise a team of 5–15 part-time staff, including newly hired and experienced youth development workers.
  • Lead daily huddles and weekly team meetings to set expectations, review plans, and address challenges.
  • Conduct program walkthroughs and observations to provide staff feedback and uphold quality.
  • Ensure high-quality programming, smooth transitions, daily schedules, and consistent staff performance.
  • Monitor, document, and address behavioral and safety concerns.
  • Facilitate parent and family communication and respond to incidents, questions, or concerns.
  • Provide daily and weekly updates to the Program Manager regarding operations, enrollment, programming, supplies, equipment, incidents, staff performance, family engagement, and partner communications.
  • Design weekly and monthly program schedules and calendars of events.
  • Build weekly schedules using Program Design resources and activities in the Coaches Portal, adjusting for participant needs and site capacity.
  • Implement specialized units and signature programming when applicable.
  • Plan and support staff in facilitating activities involving STEM, art, team games, movement, and special events.
  • Align programming with monthly themes and ensure participants learn new games, sports, and STEAM skills.
  • Prepare and lead site-specific celebrations, family showcases, talent shows, and holiday events.
  • Support vendor relationships and coordinate enrichment instructor schedules and logistics.
  • Provide feedback to the Program Design team through weekly reports.
  • Maintain attendance, incident, and schedule records in Paycom, Asana, After School Site Hubs, and LineLeader.
  • Track attendance, drop-in enrollments, injuries, incidents, customer inquiries, staff absences, and lateness.
  • Review and update staff timesheets in Paycom.
  • Communicate with internal departments through Slack, Gmail, and phone calls.
  • Post program updates through Slack and complete monthly newsletters.
  • Communicate with registered families through Aircall, Gmail, and approved communication channels.
  • Collect and share program feedback through surveys, Slack channels, and conversations.
  • Collect lesson plans and update supplies and inventory logs.
  • Maintain an organized and clean office or storage space at the school.
  • Review the annual program budget and plan spending for programming, events, supplies, purchasing, staff appreciation, and parent events.
  • Purchase supplies with the Program Manager and Operations Department and follow purchasing protocols.
  • Track purchases in the budget and submit receipts within two days.
  • Work with the Enrollment Coordinator and Finance Team to manage billing, collect and track payments, and reduce outstanding balances.
  • Manage family communications regarding balances and outstanding payments.
  • Represent the organization at school events, family meetings, open houses, and registration events.
  • Lead themed events, family engagement nights, and Parent Play Nights.
  • Work with the Program Manager and People & Culture Department on staff ratios and scheduling.
  • Recommend coach placements based on skills and program fit and submit coach feedback.
  • Onboard staff by explaining site routines, coaching practices, communication protocols, and daily expectations.
  • Provide reminders, feedback, and coaching to staff.
  • Document and address staff performance concerns and incidents through Paycom, including issuing verbal and written warnings.
  • Administer staff performance reviews twice per year with the People & Culture Department.
  • Monitor on-site safety and train staff on safety protocols.
  • Complete daily incident and injury reports within the required 24–48-hour process.
  • Reinforce health and safety protocols, including supervision ratios, safe play, equipment use, hydration, breaks, physical contact, harassment, and bullying.
  • Attend weekly office hours, biweekly Site Director meetings and one-on-ones, and monthly People & Culture one-on-ones.
  • Complete required onboarding, orientation, compliance, and TalentLMS training.
  • Attend professional development sessions and Culture & Impact Days as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or K–12 Education, Psychology, Social Work, Physical Education, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are a plus.
  • Availability to work at a summer camp during July and August is a plus.

At Every Kid Sports, Kids in the Game believe every kid deserves the chance to play(TM). That belief is at the heart of everything Kids in the Game do and it's why Kids in the Game is proud to celebrate and align with partners like the DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation, whose work continues to strengthen and improve the youth sports system nationwide. Their latest initiative, Play It Forward: Game On, a Nickelodeon television series, is a powerful example of what's possible when organizations invest in youth sports access, community, and opportunity. The series highlights the joy, confidence, and connection that emerge when barriers to play are removed, a mission deeply aligned with its own. Play It Forward: Game On first premiered November 19 on Nickelodeon, with additional episodes airing every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. ET/PT. The final episode of the season will air February 11 at 5:30 p.m. ET/PT. Play It Forward: Game On is more than uplifting television. It's a celebration of generosity, teamwork, and what happens when kids are given the opportunity to play sports, regardless of income or circumstance. Each episode delivers surprise makeovers and life-changing upgrades to under-resourced youth sports teams and organizations across the country, creating an impact that lasts far beyond the final reveal. What the series is all about.
