Requirements
- Master’s degree in psychology, social work with psycho-social intervention designation, or occupational therapy, or a bachelor’s degree in social work or nursing with a minimum of three years of related experience in an educational or mental health setting.
- A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
- Membership in good standing with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists, Alberta College of Social Workers, or College of Alberta Psychologists.
- Experience in cognitive behavioural therapy, family interventions, and crisis intervention.
- Demonstrated ability to practice culturally safe therapeutic interventions.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office products, including their application to formal writing.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently while prioritizing responsibilities.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
- Ability to maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention certification and perform all required interventions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments of assigned children and youth and develop individualized and family treatment plans with the primary team.
- Develop treatment plans and formulate diagnoses, when applicable, using the DSM-5-TR or other appropriate diagnostic tools.
- Provide therapeutic interventions using developmentally appropriate treatment approaches to support patients in achieving therapeutic goals.
- Arrange and facilitate transition meetings with community schools before patient discharge.
- Complete written discharge summaries for the referring therapist and psychiatrist to support continuity of care.
- Participate actively in an interprofessional clinical team focused on assessment, treatment, case review, and consultation.
- Follow organizational policies and practices for admission, discharge, and maintenance of health records.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate psycho-educational and psychodynamic groups using evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
Desired Qualifications
