Truist cuts Cameco target to $125, still sees 58% upside after 38% slide

Cameco shares have fallen 38% in six months, but Truist still rates the stock a Buy. On October 22, analyst Christopher Souther cut his price target to $125 from $130. That implies 58% upside from the current price of about $79. Uranium prices have held up, but profits have not followed. Cameco's uranium earnings fell nearly 40% in the second quarter even as its realised price rose 18%, because its cost per pound climbed 36%. Analysts have cut their 2026 earnings estimate to $1.44 a share from $1.67 over 90 days. At $125, the stock would trade at about 80x forward earnings, against 52x today. Reaching the target needs a 2027 earnings jump or a Westinghouse listing. The third-quarter report in early November is the next test.
