Responsibilities
Investigate specifications, scopes of work, and drawings for assigned portions of bids, and develop a complete understanding of the requirements.
Perform takeoffs and calculations accurately and on time, and analyze data.
Conduct field visits to gather project-site-condition data, verify production rates, and learn construction techniques.
Adjust bid methods and incorporate gathered information into the bidding process.
Negotiate for the best cost, quality, and delivery using the company buyout procedure.
Understand contract documents and potential project risks.
Make well-supported recommendations on mitigating and pricing risks.
Work with the Contracts department to address contract risks and issues.
Help develop pricing strategies.
Coordinate with Business Development, Engineering, and Operations teams to price and submit bids on time.
Draft proposals to RFP specifications, including detailed pricing and clarifications.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with Primavera, HCSS, On Screen Takeoff (OST), and AGTEK is advantageous.
Experience with local agencies such as MDOT, VDOT, DC Water, WSSC, WMATA, and VRE.

The Junior Estimator is responsible for the coordination of bid documents, labor productions, subcontractors, vendor pricing, subcontractor and vendor buyouts, project start-up meetings, owner estimates, subcontractors and vendor requisitions and cost to completes.

Qualifications
2+ years of estimating experience.
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, architecture, etc.
Has experience in performing take-off, pricing, and communicating with subcontractors.
