Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or a relevant medical or scientific discipline is required.
- No prior experience is required.
- If not certified at hire, certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare specimens for testing.
- Perform routine laboratory tests.
- Perform quality control and maintenance procedures.
- Recognize computer data problems.
- Troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
- Communicate technical information to medical and lay persons.
- Assist with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures.
- Participate in continuing education.
- Recognize normal and abnormal values.
Desired Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification or an equivalent relevant categorical certification is preferred at the time of hire.
