  • Execute startup and commissioning procedures for commercial HVAC systems, including rooftop units, chillers, boilers, variable air volume systems, variable refrigerant flow systems, and related equipment.
  • Verify and document system performance against engineering design specifications and manufacturer-established performance criteria.
  • Perform air and water system balancing using industry-standard tools, instrumentation, and accepted methodologies.
  • Plan and conduct functional and performance testing on HVAC equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues involving electrical systems, mechanical components, and Building Management System controls.
  • Operate and verify thermostats, sensors, actuators, and control panels according to system design requirements.
  • Prepare thorough startup checklists, commissioning reports, and comprehensive system documentation.
  • Maintain detailed records of system readings, identified deficiencies, and corrective actions.
  • Communicate technical findings, observations, and recommendations clearly to project managers, engineers, and stakeholders.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, and company safety policies.
  • Ensure systems meet local codes, industry standards, and energy-efficiency requirements.
  • Coordinate with installation teams, controls technicians, project managers, and engineering staff.
  • Support quality assurance efforts and completion of project punch-list items.
  • Have 10 or more years of progressive HVAC experience focused on service, startup, or commissioning roles.
  • Be proficient with commissioning and field software tools, including Field Assist, Prism, or equivalent platforms.
  • Hold EPA Universal Certification.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of HVAC controls, mechanical system function, and associated electrical systems.
  • Read, interpret, and apply information from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Produce clear, professional written documentation and communicate effectively.
  • Work independently and exercise sound technical judgment in the field.
  • Stand, walk, kneel, bend, crouch, and climb ladders or scaffolding for extended periods in varying field conditions.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds as required.
  • Travel to project sites as needed, including extended travel throughout the region.

  • Deliver system orientation and operational training to building owners, facility managers, and on-site maintenance personnel.

  • Ensure systems meet applicable codes, industry standards, and energy-efficiency requirements before project closeout.
  • Coordinate with installation teams, controls technicians, project managers, and engineering staff.
