Requirements
  • CCNP/CCIE-level knowledge or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working across Cisco enterprise networking, data center, SD-WAN, security, collaboration, and cloud architectures and solutions with customers.
  • Hands-on proficiency with AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Cursor to generate, review, and refine scripts, and apply them through Ansible or Terraform to configure Cisco and cloud solutions end-to-end.
  • A strong background in routing, switching, and security, including OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, DMVPN, IPsec, NAT, TrustSec, LISP, VXLAN, EVPN, and 802.1X.
  • Experience with Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN, including on-premises and cloud controller deployment and design, device-template and configuration-group management, centralized and localized policy management, data policy management, and Cloud OnRamp for multicloud.
  • Experience with Cisco Software-Defined Access, including Cisco Catalyst Center deployment and management, network-device provisioning, Software Image Management, templates, Plug and Play, and the Cisco SD-Access Fabric.
  • Cloud networking experience with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform, plus Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience with virtual infrastructures, including VMware vCenter and virtual machines.
  • Experience with test tools such as Spirent, CyberFlood, Avalanche, Ixia, Keysight, and WAN emulation.
  • A proven record of project delivery, project management, and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to self-manage, organize competing priorities and tasks, and support projects across global time zones.
  • Ability to respond to shifting demands and drive cross-functional projects to successful deployment.
  • Analytical ability to use source material to resolve questions, apply judgment, identify project risks, and formulate mitigation plans.
  • Attention to detail when monitoring standards and checking the accuracy of data before delivery.
  • Good written and oral communication skills for building and sustaining relationships and promoting common goals.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and prioritize project-related tasks and organize, strategize, and communicate project goals, objectives, and tasks at all organizational levels.
  • Ensure that third-party developers on assigned projects report status effectively.
  • Design, develop, document, and deliver content across Cisco enterprise networking, data center, SD-WAN, security, and cloud architectures.
  • Meet with account teams, technical marketing engineers, content developers, partners, and customers to extract requirements and help create designs and test plans aligned with proof-of-concept objectives.
  • Serve as the primary engineer throughout the proof-of-concept introduction, build, test, and delivery phases.
  • Collaborate with engineers who have varying specialties.
  • Document and plan projects before they enter the build phase using standard design templates and tools such as Visio, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
  • Justify designs before the working peer group.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for escalations and work with account teams, partners, and customers to ensure successful proof-of-concept delivery.
  • Follow up with responsible engineers on unresolved escalations and ensure fixes are documented and added to the support knowledge base.
  • Ensure that tier 1 and tier 2 engineers are trained on workarounds and future procedures.
  • Coordinate required content and documentation updates with project managers assigned to the proof-of-concept team.
  • Act as a liaison to the operations team to resolve issues found during development and testing, provide technical support, and recommend design fixes.
  • Serve as a third-party liaison and independent content developer.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Cisco security products such as SSE, Meraki, Secure Access, Secure Cloud Control, next-generation firewalls, ISE, Stealthwatch, ThousandEyes, Umbrella, Threat Defense, Defense Orchestrator, Cyber Vision, and Office 365.
  • Programming and scripting skills in Go, Python, Ruby, PowerShell, XML, or SQL.
  • Basic web development and scripting skills.
  • Automation and infrastructure-as-code experience using Python, Ansible, Terraform, REST APIs, and continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Experience building Splunk or observability and analytics dashboards, performing log analytics, and using telemetry insights with Splunk, ThousandEyes, or Nexus Dashboard Insights.
  • Experience applying AI-assisted and agentic workflows with Claude Code and Cursor to automate proof-of-concept documentation, test-plan generation, configuration validation, and Ansible- or Terraform-driven deployments.

Cisco stock investors should watch 10% growth target outside AI business

Cisco Systems investors should focus on one key metric: growth outside AI infrastructure, which management expects to reach about 10% in fiscal 2027. Whilst AI infrastructure generates headlines, it represents only 6% of Cisco's revenue, with the remainder coming from networking and security products sold to enterprises and telecoms. The company's product orders rose 35% year-on-year in fiscal Q4 2026, with Wi-Fi 7 accounting for over half of wireless orders. Management forecasts fiscal 2027 revenue of $72.2 billion to $73.4 billion, with $7.5 billion from AI infrastructure. However, challenges loom. Comparisons become tougher in the second half of fiscal 2027, gross margins face pressure from increased hardware shipments, and price increases contributed about 5 percentage points to recent revenue growth. The stock trades at 31.8 times earnings, above the S&P 500's 21.9 multiple, leaving little margin for error.

Cisco CEO tells workers uncomfortable with change to adapt as AI transforms $415B company

Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins has warned employees uncomfortable with rapid change that "nothing's going to feel good right now" as AI transforms the workplace. Speaking to Inc., Robbins said workers "have no choice but to at least keep up" with the pace of technological change driven by industry leaders. The head of the $415 billion company argues firms should view AI as an "innovation enhancement play" rather than a cost-reduction tool, enabling companies to deliver more with existing staff rather than cutting headcount. However, Cisco cut around 4,000 jobs earlier this year during a restructuring towards AI. Robbins noted that even AI leaders like Anthropic's Dario Amodei and OpenAI's Sam Altman have called for slower model development. Goldman Sachs economists estimate AI has eliminated approximately 16,000 net jobs monthly over the past year.

Internet2 and Cisco deploy AI PODs at two US universities to expand National Research Platform capacity

Internet2 is expanding the National Research Platform (NRP) through a partnership with Cisco, deploying new AI PODs at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Sacramento State. The AI PODs add GPU capacity that researchers can access when local resources are insufficient. The Cisco AI PODs provide pre-validated compute, networking, and management capabilities that can be deployed as standardised units. This approach reduces engineering and integration work required to add new resources to the platform. Combined, the AI PODs provide 8 NVIDIA H200 GPUs with 1.1 TB of GPU memory, 128 CPU cores, 2 TB of system memory, and 90 TB of NVMe flash storage. The NRP is a community-operated platform supported by the National Science Foundation and over 70 participating organisations, pooling computing resources across the US to give researchers access to capabilities beyond their local institutions.
