Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent experience.
  • One or more full years of employment experience in a related position with this company or another organization.
  • Understanding of all hotel front office procedures.
  • High-school-graduate-level mathematical aptitude and knowledge of standard cash-handling procedures and computerized cash-register systems.
  • Past experience dealing directly with the public and general knowledge of basic customer-service skills.
  • Knowledge of company and hotel policies and procedures, with the ability to determine a course of action based on those guidelines.
  • Supervision and management skills.
  • Ability to communicate information and hotel services to management and guests.
  • Ability to operate a computer, calculator, and telephone keyboards for cash handling and paperwork processing.
  • Ability to communicate in person and by telephone frequently.
  • Ability to read written communications, analyze reports, and view a monochrome computer screen.
  • Speech communication skills for continual interaction with guests and frequent telephone use.
  • Literacy sufficient to analyze report data, prepare reports, and initiate correspondence.
  • Ability to stand continuously for most of the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of guest luggage, push or pull up to 50 pounds of a bell cart, and carry up to 25 pounds of guest luggage.
  • Open availability is required.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise front desk operations to ensure an optimal level of service and hospitality for guests.
  • Train, direct the work of, resolve issues and problems for, and coach and counsel front desk team members to ensure a quality operation.
  • Resolve customer issues, complaints, and problems quickly and efficiently to maintain customer satisfaction and quality service.
  • Complete established check-in procedures for arriving guests and facilitate guest departure to close guest accounts and make rooms available for subsequent guests.
  • Calculate and post monies, receipts, guest accounts, and other forms of credit using accurate cash-handling methods and established procedures, ensuring timely hotel charges and accurate records.
  • Answer inquiries from potential guests and accept hotel reservations; use suggestive selling techniques to sell room nights and increase occupancy and revenue.
  • Maintain customer relations by staying informed about in-house and area functions and answering questions and concerns in person and by telephone.
  • Operate PBX equipment, including assisting with outgoing calls, scheduling and setting wake-up calls, and paging guests.
  • Control cash transactions at the front desk and maintain responsibility for the personal bank under the hotel bank agreement policy.
  • Perform other duties assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.
