About the company

Intel designs and manufactures semiconductor chips, with a focus on microprocessors for personal computers, servers, and other devices. Its core product is the CPU on a single silicon chip, which executes instructions, handles arithmetic and logic operations, and coordinates the work of other computer components. Intel originated in memory chips but shifted decisively to microprocessors in the 1980s, becoming a central supplier for the PC era after the IBM partnership and its famous x86 processor line. This shift, large-scale manufacturing, and close ties with computer makers set Intel apart from competitors who remained focused on memory or other components. The company aims to power computing by delivering high-performance, energy-efficient silicon solutions that drive a wide range of computing devices and applications.

Meta falls 7% as $34.9B capex tops cash flow; investors punish AI spending cuts and hikes

Meta shares fell 7% on October 22 even though third-quarter sales rose 26% and beat estimates. Capital expenditure of $34.9 billion topped operating cash flow as AI spending outran the company's cash generation. MetLife's Drew Matus says investors punish both capex cuts and hikes. "I don't actually really know what people want from these people," he said. Microsoft and Alphabet report Wednesday, followed by Amazon and Intel on Thursday. The four make up about 15% of the Nasdaq 100, which has fallen roughly 7% this month. The Federal Reserve decides on rates Wednesday afternoon, hours before Microsoft and Alphabet report. Matus expects it to skip a move and revisit policy in December.

Intel's October 29 earnings: 42% gross margin must hold as $2.1B foundry loss and 57x valuation loom

Intel reports third-quarter results on October 29, with gross margin the key test. Shares have fallen 13% since the July report, though they are still up about 136% this year. Last quarter, revenue hit $16.1 billion and non-GAAP gross margin reached 41.8%. Chief financial officer David Zinsner guided to a flat 42% for this quarter. Analysts expect revenue of $16.47 billion. Intel Foundry's operating loss narrowed by $348 million to $2.1 billion. External foundry revenue was only $293 million, so named outside customers, especially for Intel 14A, would be a good sign. At $86.96, Intel trades near 57 times 2026 consensus earnings. Capex will top $20 billion this year, so foundry losses must keep shrinking to protect cash flow.

Intel stock is up 150% this year but 36% off its high, as AI demand lifts revenue 25% to $16.1B

Intel shares are up about 150% this year as of October 21, as the chipmaker posted its strongest revenue growth in more than 15 years. The stock has still fallen about 36% from its June high. Second-quarter revenue rose 25% to about $16.1 billion, driven by data centre demand. AI-related revenue grew more than 70% and made up about 70% of the total. Adjusted gross margin climbed to nearly 42% from about 30% a year ago. Adjusted earnings were $0.42 a share, against a $0.10 loss a year earlier. The foundry business lost $2.1 billion in the quarter. Management expects it to break even by the end of 2027, though it could slip to 2028. Intel reports third-quarter results on October 29, guiding for revenue of $15.8 billion to $16.8 billion.

Intel shares swung an average 16% after its last three reports; will Q3 results move them again?

Intel will report third-quarter results after the close on October 29. The stock has moved an average of 16% the day after its last three reports: down 17% in January, up 24% in April, and down 8% in July. Intel beat its own forecast each time, yet shares fell twice. In both cases the outlook pointed lower or flatter. July's second-quarter revenue of $16.1 billion was up 25% year on year, but the third-quarter forecast midpoint of $16.3 billion was only about 1% higher. Shares trade near $93, so a similar move would mean about $15 either way. The fourth-quarter outlook may matter most, as chief financial officer David Zinsner said supply growth would skew toward the end of the third quarter and into the fourth. At about 44 times expected 2027 earnings, shares already count on growth returning.

Intel's $28B Ohio chip project hits construction milestone after years of delays - Arizona Fab targets 2028 start.

Intel's $28B Ohio chip project hits construction milestone after years of delays - Arizona Fab targets 2028 start. Published: Oct 22 2026, 12:20 AM IST * FB * TW * Linkdin * Whatsapp * GNFollow Us Intel's Ohio factory, originally expected to begin production in 2025, is now targeting operations in 2030-2031 as the chipmaker looks to expand U.S. manufacturing capacity. * Intel's first Ohio chip factory is expected to complete construction in 2030, while a second facility is scheduled for completion in 2031. * Intel Foundry reported $5.8 billion in second-quarter segment revenue, largely from internal business, alongside a $2.1 billion operating loss. * Construction and equipment installation are underway at Intel's Fab 62 facility in Arizona. Intel Corp. (INTC) said Wednesday it had installed the first major structural truss at its Ohio chipmaking facility, marking another construction milestone for a project running years behind its original production schedule. Intel Foundry executive Naga Chandrasekaran called the development "another significant step toward expanded U.S. leading-edge semiconductor capacity" in a company post. The Ohio project, involving planned investments exceeding $28 billion, was initially expected to begin producing chips in late 2025 when Intel announced it in 2022. As of this writing, INTC stock traded more than 1% higher. Intel's Ohio expansion faces A long road. Intel's revised timeline calls for completing its first Ohio factory in 2030, with operations beginning between 2030 and 2031. Construction of the second factory is expected to finish in 2031, with operations starting in 2032. Intel has slowed construction to align spending with customer demand, an approach continued under CEO Lip-Bu Tan, who further reduced the pace of work at the Ohio site in 2025. Intel is seeking to expand its foundry business beyond manufacturing chips for its own products, although company filings show that the vast majority of its foundry operations still serve internal demand. The division generated $5.8 billion in second-quarter segment revenue, up 31% year over year, but recorded an operating loss of approximately $2.1 billion. Most of the segment's revenue came from transactions within Intel. Arizona Fab targets operations by 2028. Chandrasekaran also said in the post that construction and equipment installation were underway at Intel's Fab 62 facility in Arizona, with operations expected to begin by the end of 2028. The expansion comes as Intel advances its 18A chipmaking technology, which entered high-volume manufacturing in 2025, while developing future processes for external customers. Intel reported second-quarter revenue of $16.1 billion, up 25% year over year, and forecast third-quarter revenue of $15.8 billion to $16.8 billion. The company is scheduled to report third-quarter earnings on October 29, with investors watching for updates on its foundry expansion, customer commitments, and manufacturing profitability. Analysts are expecting revenue of $16.47 billion and earnings per share (EPS) of $0.40, according to FiscalAI consensus estimates. The company previously guided for revenue between $15.8 billion and $16.8 billion. On Stocktwits, retail investors' sentiment around INTC stock remained 'neutral'. So far this year, INTC stock has surged over 135%. By comparison, the Invesco NASDAQ 100 ETF (QQQM) and the VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH), which hold the stock, have risen around 18% and 50%, respectively, over the same period.
