FreedomPay is currently seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer. This full-time salaried position is an excellent opportunity to build upon a strong foundation of observability, incident response and support experience throughout the development lifecycle.
The Site Reliability Engineer will be joining a team of SRE’s who work closely with various other teams of world-class engineers to tenaciously and creatively solve problems and reduce manual toil wherever possible, ensuring the highest possible availability and resiliency of a rapidly growing global payment platform.
Successful candidates will be heavily results-driven, bring well-established expertise of both traditional and bleeding-edge technology to the table, as well as a desire to continuously grow and improve themselves and our platform.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the platform and custom application stack
- Implement, maintain, and continuously improve observability strategies ensuring complete system health throughout all stages of the development lifecycle, up to and including production
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve observability metrics for numerous complex products
- Implement, maintain, and continuously improve response procedures and other documentation
- Handle escalations and effectively collaborate with other team members to quickly determine root cause of any type of service degradation
- Continuously identify automation opportunities and follow-through until successful implementation
- Assist with troubleshooting and remediation of various failed scheduled jobs and data related concerns
- Participate in on-call rotation
Basic Requirements
- BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree, or equivalent years of relevant experience
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on, technical experience in highly available, high throughput web-based technology environments
- Expert-level proficiency in one or more Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools, such as Dynatrace, DataDog, NewRelic, etc.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Next-level problem-solving abilities
- Proven track record of successfully implementing various SLI/SLOs and fostering adoption in the organization
- Implementing enterprise incident management practices
- Strong familiarity with modern technology infrastructure including container orchestration, IaaS/PaaS cloud services, Azure, and VMWare
- PowerShell scripting fundamentals
- T-SQL Fundamentals
- Working knowledge of application development processes
- PCI policies and best practices
- Strong SQL skills
- Windows Server (IIS) Administration
- Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Comprehensive experience supporting real-time transaction processing applications
- PagerDuty Process Automation (formerly Rundeck)
- Solid understanding of core concepts: DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, Load-balancing, TCP/IP routing and switching
