Requirements
  • A 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 7 years of software development experience, including at least one full-cycle implementation.
  • Broad and deep expertise in multiple computer languages and frameworks, with core expertise in Kotlin and Java and distributed streaming technologies such as Kafka Streams at scale.
  • Experience designing, developing, and approving end-to-end functionality for a product line, platform, or infrastructure, including high-traffic search platform systems.
  • Ability to ensure data consistency and correctness across distributed, event-driven pipelines using incremental processing and minimal-downtime system updates.
  • Experience designing and optimizing distributed serving architectures that aggregate results across multiple systems under strict latency constraints and remain resilient to partial system degradation.
  • Hands-on experience managing or resolving Priority-0 production incidents in large-scale systems.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with project teams, partners, and stakeholders while maintaining deep technical expertise and staying current with evolving technologies.
Responsibilities
  • Apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized technology domains.
  • Evaluate new technologies and participate in technology decisions based on viability, maintainability, and cost of ownership.
  • Initiate and execute research and proof-of-concept activities for new technologies.
  • Lead or set strategy for testing and debugging at the platform or enterprise level.
  • Create and improve standards and best practices for high-performance, scalable, repeatable, and secure deliverables.
  • Lead service design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership.
  • Provide technical thought leadership to promote reuse and develop consistent, scalable patterns.
  • Participate in planning services with enterprise impact.
  • Analyze information from diverse sources, engage stakeholders, and identify additional resources when appropriate.
  • Develop plans and schedules, estimate resource requirements, and define milestones and deliverables.
  • Monitor workflow and risks, mitigate risks, and remove obstacles.
  • Lead and participate in complex construction, automation, and implementation activities while meeting architectural and operational requirements.
  • Establish standards and best practices to monitor, test, automate, and maintain IT components or systems.
  • Serve as an expert resource in disaster recovery and disaster recovery planning.
  • Stay current with Target’s technical capabilities, infrastructure, and technical environment.
  • Develop fully attributed logical, physical, and canonical data models.
  • Influence data standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Install, configure, and tune data management solutions with minimal guidance.
  • Monitor data management solutions and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Design, develop, and approve end-to-end product, platform, or infrastructure functionality.
Desired Qualifications
  • A strong foundation in information retrieval and search engine internals, including hybrid lexical and semantic, vector-based search.
  • Experience with Redis and search databases such as Solr or Elasticsearch.
