Requirements
  • A minimum of two years of successful experience in field supervision in civilian community law enforcement, military service, law enforcement, or commercial or industrial security force service, or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • A state security officer license where applicable.
  • Certification in the use of weapons where applicable.
  • A state armed license if required.
  • CPR, automated external defibrillator, and first aid certification may be needed.
  • A valid state driver’s license and, for vehicle operators, a minimum age of 25 with no more than one moving violation on the driving record.
  • The ability to pass a drug screen, criminal background check, credit check, psychological evaluation, and physical evaluation.
  • The ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memoranda in English.
  • The ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division accurately.
  • The ability to apply common-sense understanding to written, oral, or diagrammed instructions and handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Some posts may require knowledge of internet programs, word-processing software, or other software as required.
  • The physical ability to protect oneself and others, use firearms and security equipment, function in applicable environments and climates, and withstand sudden emotional stress and physical exertion.
  • The ability to remain alert for up to 12 hours, react quickly to unexpected situations, and remain calm during stressful interactions.
  • The ability to use security equipment, including metal detectors, X-ray equipment, closed-circuit television, or similar devices, and firearms while on duty.
  • Computer proficiency, including typing and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • The ability to read post assignments, write accurate and grammatically correct reports, and respond to routine and emergency dispatches or orders.
  • The ability to respond to emergencies by providing first aid or resuscitation while awaiting emergency personnel.
  • The ability to perform frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping for up to 12 hours per day and occasionally run, sprint, lift heavy weights, move heavy objects, or climb stairs.
Responsibilities
  • Manage, supervise, and coordinate the activities of assigned Contract Security Officers at the field level while ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, client expectations, post orders, company policies, procedures, and established standards.
  • Perform the duties and responsibilities of a Contract Security Officer in addition to assigned supervisory functions as a working supervisor.
  • Provide leadership, direction, training, inspection, reporting, and administrative oversight to support effective and consistent security operations.
  • Respond to client needs and operational issues and communicate matters requiring management attention in a timely manner.
  • Exercise direct supervision over assigned Contract Security Officers and provide direction regarding daily security operations, post assignments, performance, training, and compliance.
  • Provide management with information regarding the operational status of assigned posts and personnel.
  • Serve as the senior supervisory representative during assigned hours and address operational issues within the scope of assigned authority.
  • Perform access control duties.
  • Prepare accurate reports and documentation for schedules and timesheets, shift reports, incident reports, alarm logs, training rosters, accident and injury reports, key logs, weekly reports, unfilled hours, and safety incidents.
  • Report and document employee performance and counseling.
  • Coordinate on-site processing and on-the-job training of Contract Security Officers.
