Requirements
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in user experience research or experience strategy.
  • Portfolio demonstrating the full process from research insight to strategic design direction, including user experience research deliverables, synthesis outputs, and strategy artifacts.
  • Degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Design Research, Cognitive Psychology, or a closely related field.
  • Mastery of qualitative user experience research methods including user interviews, contextual inquiry, ethnographic observation, usability testing, and diary studies.
  • Working knowledge of quantitative approaches such as surveys, analytics interpretation, and task performance metrics.
  • Proven ability to develop user experience strategies that synthesize research into design criteria, experience principles, and interaction frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience producing strategy deliverables such as journey maps, service blueprints, mental model diagrams, and research-to-design briefs.
  • Understanding of interaction design principles, information architecture, and user interface conventions.
  • Experience in healthcare, medical device, or regulated product environments.
  • Familiarity with Food and Drug Administration human factors guidance, specifically International Electrotechnical Commission 62366 and Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation HE75.
  • Experience conducting formative and summative usability studies.
  • Proficiency in presentation and document design tools including Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Keynote.
  • Valid United States working permit for international candidates.
  • Ability to work onsite at the studio in Atlanta, Georgia.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, lead, and manage end-to-end user experience research programs from defining research questions to delivering strategic recommendations.
  • Design and conduct qualitative research including user interviews, contextual inquiry, ethnographic observation, diary studies, and participatory co-design workshops.
  • Develop and execute usability evaluation plans, including formative and summative testing, heuristic analysis, cognitive walkthroughs, and task analysis.
  • Translate raw behavioral data and user insight into strategy artifacts such as experience principles, design criteria, user experience frameworks, and service blueprints.
  • Lead the development of comprehensive strategy documents defining user experience vision, interaction philosophy, and design priorities.
  • Architect and map end-to-end user journeys, ecosystem maps, and touchpoint analyses to identify pain points and unmet needs.
  • Define information architecture, navigation systems, and user flow logic in collaboration with interaction designers and product teams.
  • Lead user experience research for regulated product development, including human factors engineering studies for medical device and healthcare technology clients.
  • Conduct competitive analyses and benchmark studies to evaluate interaction patterns and design conventions.
  • Facilitate co-design and ideation workshops with client teams, end users, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Deliver research reports, strategy briefs, and executive-level presentations.
  • Manage client engagements, including timelines, expectations, and deliverables.
  • Mentor junior researchers and designers in human-centered methods and strategic thinking.
  • Support business development by contributing expertise to proposals and capability presentations.
  • Contribute to organizational thought leadership through writing, speaking, and publishing.

  • Graduate degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Design Research, Cognitive Psychology, or a closely related field.

  • Direct experience with Food and Drug Administration submissions.
