Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years of Controls Engineering experience; internship and co-op experience will be considered.
  • A valid authorization to work in the United States is required.
  • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers and computer numerical control systems, including Siemens and Allen-Bradley; variable frequency drives; servo systems; Profinet; ABB and FANUC robots.
  • Ability to read blueprints, modify electrical schematics, and use AutoCAD.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and continuously evaluate processes for improvement.
  • Understanding of networking, including DH+, Ethernet, and remote input/output.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Experience with Lean tools including 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Understanding of 8D, FMEA, and DMAIC processes.
  • Familiarity with Total Quality Management and Kaizen methods.
  • At least one year of experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Responsibilities
  • Lead problem solving to assist plants and implementation teams in resolving tooling, equipment, and conveyor performance issues and downtime.
  • Coordinate resources to identify root causes and fixes, break problems into items that can be validated, and determine appropriate validation methods.
  • Handle setup and maintenance of industrial barcode printers.
  • Design and implement vision control systems using different types of vision cameras and their programming software.
  • Use FIS plant monitoring software to review equipment cycle times and follow up on project installations.
  • Reprogram equipment for engineering changes and improvements.
  • Update program backups for machinery and automation.
  • Program new installations involving automation, machinery, material handling, and robots.
  • Review risk assessments and evaluate equipment safety as part of a team.
  • Assist in training manufacturing personnel and plant electricians.
  • Read and modify electrical prints and schematics using AutoCAD.
  • Maintain familiarity with OA, CPN/MPN networks, and communication protocols for connecting to wireless and wired networks.
  • Manage installation and maintenance of virus protection software for controls-network personal computers, perform personal-computer backup disk images, and install communication, firmware, and controls software.
  • Work overtime and weekends as needed.

Ford and JPMorganChase launch Michigan LIFT platform with $1B in contracts and financing

Ford and JPMorganChase have launched Michigan LIFT, a platform connecting manufacturers with innovative suppliers and capital to expand domestic production.
