Requirements

Ability to operate loaders, backhoes, skid steers, and tractors.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including standing, bending, and frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
Ability to perform preventative maintenance on diverse equipment.
Ability to work day or night shifts to support emergency operations.
Safety shoes are required.
A valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

Assist and support emergency operations for clearing snow and ice from roadways and applying abrasives and chemicals to road surfaces.
Perform heavy manual labor, including installing tire chains, plows, and blades, and removing debris.
Perform assigned duties, tasks, activities, and projects.
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment used during inclement weather to support emergency operations and roadway clearing.

Desired Qualifications

A combination of training, experience, or education in emergency operations, snow removal, or a related field.
Ability to work 12-hour shifts, at night or during the day, when necessary.
Ability to work outside normal business hours during emergencies, inclement weather, and hazardous traffic conditions.

Perform special duties as assigned. The position is to stand-by for “call in” work to supplement advance storm preparation and snow removal activities, as required.
