Workato launches self-serve platform in Singapore, opening Enterprise AI to a broader community of builders.

Workato launches self-serve platform in Singapore, opening Enterprise AI to a broader community of builders. 2026-10-21 10:00 New offering gives developers, students, and customers access to the full power of Workato's enterprise-grade engine to build AI agents and MCP servers SINGAPORE, Oct. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Workato(R), the leading Control and Execution Platform for Enterprise AI, today announced the launch of a new self-service offering that gives customers, developers, and students across Asia access to the Workato platform to govern and scale their AI initiatives, including building and productionizing AI agents and MCP servers. Making AI accessible has been at the heart of Workato's mission the past several years. Through the AI Institute Alliance, unveiled in September 2025, Workato partnered with leading institutes of higher learning across Singapore, including Nanyang Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, the Singapore University of Social Sciences, and the National University of Singapore. The initiative equipped students and educators with automation and AI skills. The AI Lab, which opened a year later, extended that commitment further into the public sector through its partnership with EDB, and into inclusive hiring through SG Enable. The newly launched self-serve platform will provide users access to: * A free account to start building immediately, with the option to upgrade to a paid plan, no contract required, as projects grow * The ability to build recipes, Agents/Genies, and MCP servers directly on the platform * The same governed, enterprise-grade engine that powers Workato's largest deployments * A path built for independent developers, students, and small teams, as well as large enterprises Since launching in 2026 in North America, Workato has seen rapid growth in the builder community. The platform is enterprise grade, but free to get started. As builders solve problems for their business, they can grow by upgrading to a paid plan. With this launch in Singapore, Workato is making an investment in the local builder community. "The next era of AI won't be defined by who has access to intelligence, but by who can turn it into action. We're putting the same enterprise-grade power trusted by the world's largest companies into the hands of every builder. We want everyone to be able to transform how their business operates," said Rishi Mallik, Chief Growth Officer, Workato. Workato showcased its self-serve platform and broader community initiatives at World of Workato (WOW) 2026 in Singapore. About Workato Workato is the leading Control and Execution Platform for Enterprise AI - the neutral platform enterprises trust to put AI to work across their business. Workato unifies data, applications, and processes into a single platform so AI can reliably orchestrate business processes in production at enterprise scale. Built on more than a decade of running mission-critical processes for over half the Fortune 500 - including Nasdaq, Cisco, Vodafone, Atlassian, and Lucid Motors - Workato turns over 17,000 enterprise systems AI needs to act on into one governed execution layer. Workato's Singapore AI Lab marks one year of homegrown talent powering global innovation.

Workato's Singapore AI Lab marks one year of homegrown talent powering global innovation. * 1 hr ago Workato(R), the leading Control and Execution Platform for Enterprise AI, today marked one year since launching its AI Lab in Singapore. Over the past year, the Lab has grown Singapore-based talent to accelerate the development of Workato AIRO(TM), built a new model for growing early-career AI talent, and partnered with SG Enable to widen access to AI careers for persons with disabilities. From Singapore to the World: Building Workato AIRO(TM) Since the Lab opened in 2025, engineers based in Singapore have worked alongside Workato's global product organisation on Workato AIRO(TM), the multi-agent system the company made generally available worldwide in July 2026. AI Lab resources helped accelerate the development and experimentation behind AIRO, including the MCP Gateway that lets enterprises securely connect their own models and tools, and the Control Plane that unifies governance of the organisation's AI operations in a single place, working alongside teams in the United States to bring the product to market. "What Singapore AI engineers brought to our product innovation was a different kind of rigor, especially in how we tested the system's reasoning under real customer conditions. This is early proof of the Lab's premise that translational AI research done in Singapore can shape innovative products used by enterprises around the world. That is exactly the kind of contribution we need more of as the Singapore AI Lab enters its second year," said Bhagat Nainani, Chief Product Officer, Workato. Holistic investment in AI Talent through real world exposure Over the past year, the Lab has been actively hiring engineers and researchers, and has given them production-grade, customer-facing exposure. The Lab treats AI domain expertise as something to be honed. By pairing new engineers directly with real customer projects, under genuine deadlines and real stakes to deliver outcomes, the company has seen staff work through rapid iterations to deliver successful outcomes. "We believe in growing our AI team, not just purely hiring our way into a strong one. We made a deliberate decision to invest in engineers and researchers by providing them with real stakes from day one. A year in, I am proud to see their achievements," said Ee Shan Sim, Head of Workato's AI Lab Singapore. "To grow Singapore's AI talent pool, we need to pair strong technical capabilities with opportunities to apply them to real-world business problems. Workato's AI Lab is a good example of how companies can help build these capabilities by investing in talent and product development here. Over the past year, Singapore-based engineers have contributed to products used by enterprises globally. We look forward to working with more companies to create similar opportunities for Singaporeans to build deep AI capabilities and contribute to global products," said Jinyong Low, Senior Vice President and Co-Head, Digital Industry Singapore. Extending Opportunity Through a New Partnership with SG Enable As part of its commitment to building an inclusive workforce, Workato will be welcoming two new colleagues through a hiring partnership with SG Enable and Autism Resource Centre (Singapore). The initiative pairs persons with autism with roles designed around their strengths. They will be joining a team responsible for the quality of data that drives company strategy and decision making. "This partnership shows what is possible when companies design roles around strengths and skills required instead of expecting people to fit a predefined mould," said Edward Chew, Senior Director, Employment and Lifelong Learning at SG Enable, the National Agency for Disability. "Meaningful careers in fast-growing fields such as AI and automation may have felt out of reach. Workato's willingness and flexibility is what turns good intentions to lasting careers, and will be a useful model for companies to create sustainable, fruitful opportunities for persons with disabilities," Chew added. Workato & Gulanga launch sovereign AI for Australia.

Workato & Gulanga launch sovereign AI for Australia. Wed, 14th Oct 2026 (Today) Workato has agreed a partnership with Gulanga Group to offer a sovereign artificial intelligence solution to Australian government and enterprise customers. The arrangement also includes Gulanga's AI offering, Dukes, which is powered by Trellis Data's Agentaus large language model. The deal links Workato's platform with Australian AI models assessed for data sovereignty requirements, and early testing and integration work with Dukes is already under way. Australian organisations face growing pressure to adopt AI tools while keeping sensitive information under local control. The partnership is aimed at agencies and businesses that want to use AI systems while meeting governance and sovereignty rules on where data is handled and which models are used. Under the agreement, Gulanga will help identify and assess Australian sovereign AI technologies for use with Workato, including large language models, domain-specific models and other emerging AI tools. Workato will integrate selected providers into its platform so customers can use those models inside governed workflows. Customers will be able to choose between sovereign and non-sovereign models, while the platform remains model-neutral. According to the companies, Dukes has been trained and fine-tuned on Australian data. They say this gives the model stronger knowledge of Australian law and policy than more general overseas alternatives. John Deeb, Field CTO at Workato, said early work with the model had shown encouraging results. "When a government agency uses a model like Dukes to draft a policy document or take action specific to its domain, the response is faster, more relevant, and more economical than frontier models. We've seen that accuracy, performance, and cost benefit by plugging Dukes into the Workato platform," Deeb said. Policy backdrop The agreement comes as sovereign AI has become a more prominent issue in Australia's policy debate. Workato recently appeared before the Joint Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence, where its executives argued for platforms that allow local and overseas model providers to compete side by side. Bhaskar Roy, Chief AI Officer at Workato, framed the issue around customer choice and the role of specialist models. "Reasoning is abundant, but results are not. Often you need specialised models to drive the right outcomes, powered by a neutral platform that provides the choice between sovereign AI and frontier models. Australia has all the key ingredients to be a global player in the AI space: natural resources, amazing talent, demand, and global trust as a nation. Workato is excited to partner with Australian AI providers to help drive innovation in Australia and globally," Roy said. He added that testing of local models had shown positive signs for business use cases. "Early testing of Australian AI models like Dukes is very promising. We are committed to providing flexible technology choices to drive outcomes for Australian businesses," Roy said. Indigenous link The partnership also has an Indigenous economic element through Gulanga, a Supply Nation-certified Indigenous ICT provider. Gulanga said its role is not only to assess the market for sovereign AI tools, but also to build commercial structures that support Indigenous social outcomes. Rick Higgins, Managing Director at Gulanga Group, said the company wanted sovereign AI to be seen as a commercial option rather than a compliance burden. "Traditionally, Sovereign AI technology is usually sold as an obligation, we think it should be an advantage. Gulanga's role is to understand the technology landscape, bring the right partners together, and make the sovereign choice the smart one. That's why, in partnership with Workato and Trellis Data, we established Dukes, with one key difference - the token economics helps fund Indigenous social outcomes. Dukes is faster and more economical than equivalent offshore models, and it delivers an Australian response. Dukes also carries the name of our late founder, Craig Dukes, who built Gulanga to establish new pathways for Indigenous people into the technology sector. His name is on the model, and his goal is funded by every token it processes," Higgins said. One early customer voice came from the Royal Flying Doctor Service, which pointed to the importance of local hosting and governance for organisations handling sensitive information. "Using an Australian trained, managed, and hosted AI model offers an ideal option for organisations like RFDS that handle sensitive personal information, require strict alignment with local laws and policies, and need complete confidence in onshore data handling," said Ryan Klose, Executive CIO at Royal Flying Doctor Service. Klose added: "We welcome Workato's commitment to providing this capability and look forward to leveraging this new capability."

Workato partners with Gulanga and Trellis Data to bring sovereign AI to Australian organisations

Workato has agreed with Australian firm Gulanga Group to offer government and enterprise customers a joint sovereign AI solution. Workato's chief AI officer, Bhaskar Roy, announced the deal on October 14, 2026, at World of Workato Sydney. Gulanga, a Supply Nation-certified Indigenous ICT provider, will help Workato identify and assess Australian AI technologies, including large language models (LLMs). Workato will build integrations into the providers it selects, and stay model-neutral so sovereign and frontier models can run side by side. Workato is already testing Dukes, Gulanga's AI offering powered by Trellis Data's Agentaus LLM. Dukes is trained on Australian data, and its token revenue helps fund Indigenous social outcomes.
