Office occupier activity in Limerick described as 'quiet' this year. Published 12th Aug 2026, 10:00 BST Updated 12th Aug 2026, 16:55 BST Only 1,700 square metres of office space across Limerick and Shannon taken in first half of 2026. ONLY 1,700 square metres of office space across Limerick and Shannon was taken up in the first half of this year, a new study has revealed. Real estate firm Cushman and Wakefield has published its latest market beat report for regional cities across the country. And it has described occupier activity across Limerick and Shannon as being "quiet" up to June, with just four deals of note taking place. It's a measure it describes as "well below normal levels of activity." "The main deals included Irish speciality chemicals company Chemifloc taking approximately 700 square metres of space at Dromore House in Shannon, Broadline Recruitment Group leasing 420 square metres at Lower Cecil Street and Exertis which took approximately 350 square metres at the National Technology Park," the report states. Construction firm Sisk took a block at City East retail park, on the edge of Limerick. It's meant office availability across Limerick and Shannon has grown to its highest level since the end of 2022, at almost 12%. "Availability is generally very evenly spread across Limerick city centre, its suburbs and the Shannon area, although it has increased notably in Shannon since the end of 2025," the report stated. Prime rents in Limerick and Shannon are stable at around €430-per-square metre, the analysis shows, with the expectation this will continue into the second half of 2026. Regional office investment activity improved during 2026's first half. The largest of these involved the sale of Hawthorn House, near the National Technology Park, to French property investment firm Arkéa Reim. Cork recorded around 13,400 square metres of office take-up during the first half of the year. Galway saw 5,300 square metres of office take-up recorded. Patricia Staunton, regional director, Ireland at Cushman and Wakefield said: "While overall occupier activity moderated in the first half of 2026, demand for best-in-class office accommodation remains evident across Ireland's regional markets. Occupiers continue to prioritise high-quality, centrally located buildings that support proximity to business networks, talent attraction and operational performance." Tom McCabe, the firm's head of research and insights added: "The dominant theme across Ireland's regional office markets remains the growing divergence between occupier demand for grade A office space and the limited development pipeline available to satisfy it."
Kimmins announces £675,000 upgrade for Ballycorr Road, Ballyclare. Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has confirmed a £675,000 road improvement scheme for Ballycorr Road, Ballyclare, commencing on 27 July 2026. The project will cover approximately 0.84km from the junction with the C37 Ballyeaston Road to the Craighill Manor junction, delivering new surfacing to both the carriageway and footway. Minister Kimmins said: "This is a substantial investment for the Ballyclare area which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to investing in and improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. This work will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this section of the road network to the benefit of residents, businesses and those travelling in the Ballyclare area. Work is expected to be substantially completed by Thursday 5 November 2026. I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out." - Advertisement - To enable safe delivery, a road closure will operate from 8am to 6pm between Monday 27 July and Friday 28 August 2026. Sisk tops out at landmark project in south London. SISK has topped out on a landmark new residential project in south London. The Irish firm has reached the significant milestone in its works on Block S&T which is part of their client Greystar's Pearl Yard Bermondsey residential development. Located on the site of the former Peek Freans biscuit factory, the blocks will include 472 apartments spread across two high-rise residential blocks, along with spa and swimming amenities. Developer appointed to bring Edgbaston Stadium plans to life. EDGBASTON stadium has appointed a developer to construct the next stage of its masterplan. Sisk has been selected as the main contractor to create the the £46 million project that will see the Raglan and Priory Stands redeveloped into a new 3,200-seater stand and a new four-star Radisson RED hotel complete with hospitality boxes and pitch-facing rooms. The project has been backed in part by a £17.3 million investment from the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA). Since work began on-site in November, Sisk has completed the initial demolition process of both the Raglan and Priory stands, has prepared the groundwork, and the main construction work has now commenced. Completion of the project is forecast in time for the Men's Ashes in summer 2027. Stuart Cain, chief executive at Warwickshire County Cricket Club, said: "The next stage of our masterplan project will help cement our city as a world class sporting and tourism hub. "Sisk has an excellent track record of delivering high-quality sporting developments such as the Etihad Stadium north stand expansion, and West Midlands-based projects like Great Charles Street in the Jewellery Quarter. "Major projects like these make it the ideal delivery partner for the next stage of our masterplan project. Sisk starts £42M Edgbaston stadium overhaul. Sisk has officially started delivery of the £42M redevelopment of Edgbaston Stadium, in Birmingham. Forming part of The Edgbaston Masterplan, the project will see Sisk redevelop the Raglan and Priory Stands into a new 3,200-seater stand delivering improved spectator facilities, as well as a new Radisson RED hotel, complete with hospitality boxes and pitch-facing rooms. The Raglan and Priory Stands, which were opened in 1958 and were nearing the end of their designed lifespan, were dismantled at the end of last year. Completion is forecast in time for the Men's Ashes in Summer 2027. The announcement of main work commencing coincides with the launch of Build UK - Open Doors 2026 at Edgbaston. The scheme is being funded in part by a £17.3M investment from the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA). Planned stadium improvements include a covered concourse, expanded food and beverage options and improved accessibility for disabled spectators. The hotel will be sizeable for a sports venue: 146 rooms, 85 of which will have pitch-facing balconies, with the top two floors designed to be convertible into hospitality boxes. A rooftop restaurant and bar with a wraparound terrace is to offer views over the ground and the Birmingham skyline. The wider Edgbaston Masterplan is a multi-phase programme developed with Woo Architects that has already delivered a new pavilion, a residential complex known as Corkfield and a rooftop Skyline terrace.
