Requirements
  • Degree or certification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically 2–8 years of mid-level experience in engineering and development of integrated controls system solutions, based on demonstrated technical competency and independence.
  • Experience or knowledge in human-machine interface programming, including Allen-Bradley/Rockwell FactoryTalk View ME/SE and Ignition.
  • Experience or knowledge in programmable logic controller programming, including Allen-Bradley/Rockwell RSLogix 5/500, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, and Connected Components Workbench.
  • Familiarity with control panel design and electrical schematics.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam.
  • Ability to interpret plans and specifications.
  • Understanding of robotics, vision systems, and motion control.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
Responsibilities
  • Independently execute design, programming, and commissioning tasks under the direction of senior-level engineers and the engineering manager.
  • Own subsystems or small projects and contribute to project planning and execution.
  • Maintain project schedules and ensure efficiency and client value.
  • Perform service calls for local clients and provide regular client and field interaction.
  • Write technical scopes of work and estimate small controls projects.
  • Perform electrical and controls design using AutoCAD.
  • Develop, procure, and track materials using control-system bills of materials.
  • Design and review electrical schematics and control-panel layouts.
  • Conduct testing, validation, and debugging of control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations teams.
  • Develop and implement automation and control strategies for manufacturing processes.
  • Perform system integration involving motor controls, sensors, and network communication.
  • Program and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers, human-machine interfaces, variable-frequency drives, motion-control systems, safety systems, instrumentation, and process controls.
  • Troubleshoot, install, maintain, repair, program, and specify alternating-current drives, control-panel hardware, field instrumentation, and legacy programmable logic controller systems.
  • Support existing client applications and troubleshoot control-system issues.
  • Develop supervisory control and data acquisition, human-machine interface, and programmable logic controller code.
  • Develop functional design specifications, system manuals, factory acceptance test/site acceptance test documentation, and submittals.
  • Lead control and automation projects through client technical sales, scope development, and project engineering.
  • Work with clients, electrical engineers, control-system programmers, and information-system programmers to deliver integrated automation solutions.
  • Provide plant checkout, commissioning, and startup services at customer sites.
  • Design, install, and commission protection relays and power meters.
  • Mentor other engineers on the team.
  • Review, modify, and amend specifications and clauses.
  • Travel to customer sites as required, estimated at 30%–50%.
