Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of significant experience in communications, public relations, marketing, media relations, digital communications or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated, multi-channel communications and marketing campaigns that increase brand awareness, audience engagement, and organizational impact.
  • Expertise in social media and digital communications, including content strategy, audience growth, engagement, and analytics across multiple platforms.
  • Experience creating written and visual content for diverse audiences, including newsletters, web content, social media, marketing materials, advocacy communications, and stakeholder messaging.
  • Ability to operate independently as the lead communications professional while collaborating with cross-functional matrixed teams and managing complex and innovative projects.
  • Proficiency with digital communications tools, content management systems, social media management platforms, and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools.
  • Regular and reliable job attendance.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships through respect and understanding of others.
  • Independent judgment in evaluating options and making sound decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, implementation, and measurement of communications strategies tailored to target audiences across multiple channels.
  • Develop message frameworks based on message research and tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Develop and refine messaging to ensure organizational consistency across communications.
  • Use internal and external communication platforms, storytelling, illustrations, and other formats to communicate complicated content.
  • Produce or collaborate on communications products for internal and external audiences by designing, writing, editing, and publishing content across social, digital, earned media, and owned channels.
  • Develop and execute integrated communications and marketing plans while providing day-to-day communications and marketing support.
  • Identify opportunities for public and media relations, thought leadership initiatives, social media, and digital tools that support programmatic objectives.
  • Act as day-to-day project manager for departmental communications efforts.
  • Develop project timelines, coordinate deliverables, and ensure commitments are met by internal teams and external partners.
  • Measure and report on program results, perform research, deliver findings, and use segmentation data.
  • Plan, organize, and implement assigned projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Determine project objectives and execution plans, track milestones, establish timelines, and evaluate progress.
  • Establish project communication plans and keep internal and external stakeholders informed about project processes and impact.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support internal and external events, forums, and convenings.
  • Develop event communications strategies, messaging, and materials, and coordinate logistics, timelines, speakers, and cross-functional partners.
  • Support and engage volunteers in communications activities aligned with state plan goals and communications priorities.
  • Develop relationships with key media outlets and establish strategic media partnerships to increase organizational visibility.
  • Serve as a media spokesperson as needed.
