About the company

Intel designs and manufactures semiconductor chips, with a focus on microprocessors for personal computers, servers, and other devices. Its core product is the CPU on a single silicon chip, which executes instructions, handles arithmetic and logic operations, and coordinates the work of other computer components. Intel originated in memory chips but shifted decisively to microprocessors in the 1980s, becoming a central supplier for the PC era after the IBM partnership and its famous x86 processor line. This shift, large-scale manufacturing, and close ties with computer makers set Intel apart from competitors who remained focused on memory or other components. The company aims to power computing by delivering high-performance, energy-efficient silicon solutions that drive a wide range of computing devices and applications.

Intel installs first major truss at $28B Ohio fab, now due in 2030; Arizona fab targets 2028

Intel said Wednesday it has installed the first major structural truss at its Ohio chip factory, a construction milestone for a project years behind schedule. The Ohio project, with planned investments above $28 billion, was first expected to produce chips in late 2025. Intel now expects to finish the first Ohio factory in 2030, with operations starting between 2030 and 2031. The second factory should be complete in 2031, with operations starting in 2032. The company has slowed construction to match spending with customer demand. At its Fab 62 site in Arizona, construction and equipment installation are underway, with operations due by the end of 2028. Intel Foundry posted second-quarter revenue of $5.8 billion, up 31%, and an operating loss of about $2.1 billion. Most of that revenue came from within Intel.

JPMorgan upgrades Intel to neutral with $85 target, ending bearish call held since 2022

JPMorgan upgraded Intel to Neutral from Underweight with an $85 price target, ending a bearish call it had held since November 2022. Intel shares rose in premarket trading. The bank said execution and competitiveness in Intel's core PC and data centre chip business have improved since Lip-Bu Tan became chief executive officer. It also cited progress in next-generation manufacturing, including yields and advanced packaging. Its 2028 earnings estimate is about 15% above consensus. The stock has fallen 36% from its June peak, against a 20% to 25% decline for the semiconductor group. JPMorgan still expects market share pressure, with a few more quarters of losses, especially in servers. Since the downgrade, Intel's server x86 CPU share has dropped from 77% to 53%, and its PC CPU share from 81% to 68%.

Intel's AI growth is accelerating. Can packaging add more upside?

Intel's AI growth is accelerating. Can packaging add more upside? Published October 19, 2026 at 9:37 am EDT Intel Corp (NASDAQ:INTC) is expanding its advanced-packaging research as AI systems demand faster connections between chips. On July 24, the company announced a memorandum of understanding with China-based Lens Technology to explore glass substrate packaging for future AI and data center workloads. Intel is also developing optical glass couplers and detachable connectors designed for co-packaged optics, which are still at the research stage. I think these efforts could position Intel to benefit as AI systems require faster, more power-efficient connections between chips. However, the company still needs to turn its technical progress into commercial products and customer orders. If you want to find out the 8 stocks that are even better than Intel, you can read the full post here: Top 10 Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) Stocks to Buy in 2026. AI growth and advanced packaging could strengthen Intel's bull case. In my view, CPO adds another potential growth driver to an Intel business that is already showing signs of improvement. Second-quarter revenue rose 25% YoY to $16.1 billion, while Data Center and AI revenue jumped 59% to $6.3 billion. However, Intel also reported an $11 billion GAAP net loss, highlighting the gap between its improving operating momentum and reported profitability. The CEO's comments support my view. Lip-Bu Tan identified advanced packaging and the foundry network as opportunities to capture AI-driven growth. Intel also reported growing customer interest in its EMIB-T advanced packaging technology, with a growing backlog and plans to ramp production to support customer programs in 2027. The company hasn't named the customers behind that backlog, and it raised its 2026 capital spending outlook to more than $20 billion. I think this gives the company a more credible path into the broader AI hardware supply chain. Intel's AI opportunity is growing, though its path still depends on execution and heavy investment. For investors willing to consider more volatile names, here are 10 high-beta stocks with strong revenue growth. Intel's valuation leaves less room for execution mistakes. Intel trades at a premium to its historical valuation, but I think its AI and advanced-packaging opportunities could justify that premium. Its forward non-GAAP P/E of 67.48x is about 9% above its five-year average of 62.01x, while its forward price-to-sales ratio of 8.56x is nearly 168% above its historical average of 3.19x. The higher sales multiple suggests investors are already pricing in a meaningful improvement in Intel's prospects. However, if its earnings recovery continues and its foundry and advanced-packaging businesses gain traction, the current valuation could become easier to justify. For investors who believe Intel can execute on its AI strategy, I think the potential upside makes the stock worth considering, although they should be comfortable with the execution risk. Hedge funds were already leaning in. Funds holding Intel rose from 112 in Q1 to 138 in Q2. The value of their stakes more than tripled from $8.7 billion to $28.1 billion. Clearly, Intel is quite popular among hedge funds, and it's not just CPO that is driving its potential. As long as America wants to win the AI race, Intel will be at the center of it. That itself is the company's most bullish thesis

Intel plant reports suspected gas leak less than a week after fatal explosion.

Intel plant reports suspected gas leak less than a week after fatal explosion. Employees were reportedly told to shelter in place after monitoring systems detected a nitrogen trifluoride leak at the Kiryat Gat facility. The incident followed an explosion last week that killed two workers and left a third hospitalized in serious condition. 13:19, 19.10.26 Less than a week after a nitrogen tank explosion at Intel's plant in Kiryat Gat that killed two workers, a suspected hazardous materials leak was reported at the same facility on Monday morning. Employees reported being instructed to shelter in place inside the plant. Israel Fire and Rescue Services said it had received a report through its 102 emergency dispatch center that employees had detected a hazardous materials leak at the Intel facility. Fire and rescue crews from the Ashkelon station were at the scene, while specialized hazardous materials units were dispatched to investigate. Two Intel employees, Ilya Chechulin, 49, and Yakir Kosashvili, 35, were killed in an explosion at the plant last week. A third employee, a man in his twenties, was injured and hospitalized in serious condition in the internal medicine intensive care unit at Soroka Medical Center. He was reported to be sedated and on a ventilator. According to Fire and Rescue Services, the earlier explosion was likely caused by a technical failure involving the rupture of a tank neck on a vessel containing eight tons of nitrogen trifluoride. The incident was described as rare, and it remains unclear whether the failure resulted from wear and tear or could have been prevented. "The teams are monitoring the source of the substance, working to stabilize the situation, and taking samples of the hazardous material," the service said. It added that the incident was contained within the plant grounds and posed no danger to local residents. No casualties had been reported at the time of the statement. Intel said the leak was detected by its monitoring systems during preparations to remove gas tanks from the Kiryat Gat plant. The company identified the substance as nitrogen trifluoride (NF[3]) and said it was working in full coordination with emergency services and the relevant authorities to address the incident.
