Emily Bateman has been named a Health Market Leader in Chicago. October 20, 2026 Cannon Design, Inc. is pleased to announce that Emily Bateman has been promoted to Health Market Leader in Chicago. She joins Andy Lane as co-leader of the office's health practice, the largest in its firm. In this role, Emily will partner with clients and teams to advance innovative healthcare design while supporting the continued growth of the practice. She will focus on strengthening client partnerships, supporting project excellence and helping team members develop and grow their careers. "Emily brings exceptional leadership skills, both in her work with clients and in the way she supports and guides our teams internally," said Michael Pukszta, national health market leader. "She leads by example and has a genuine passion for helping others grow and succeed. As she steps into this role, I'm excited to see the impact she'll have on our people, our practice and our clients. Her commitment to developing talent and fostering a strong, collaborative culture will allow her to help lead our Chicago health market to the next level." * What excites me most about this role is the opportunity to invest in its people and its practice at the same time. As Cannon Design, Inc. continue to grow, I look forward to helping develop its talented teams, strengthening its studio culture and finding new opportunities across Chicago and the broader Great Lakes region. Emily Bateman Since joining CannonDesign in 2020 as a client leader, Emily has made significant contributions to several transformative projects including the University of Chicago AbbVie Foundation Cancer Pavilion, Northwestern Memorial Healthcare's Consolidated Oncology Infusion and Clinical Expansion, ThedaCare modernization initiatives and UM Health-Sparrow Behavioral Health Hospital. "I have seen such incredible growth in Emily," said Abbie Clary, executive director of Health for All. "She is a natural leader who will help our Chicago office advance our design-first culture and our culture of systems thinking to solve our clients' hardest problems. She is going to be a great partner to Andy in strengthening our impact across the region." Emily's move into this role reflects the momentum of its health practice in Chicago and across the region and the strength of the team leading its next chapter. That momentum will soon be visible in a powerful way as the University of Chicago Medicine AbbVie Foundation Cancer Pavilion, Chicago's first freestanding comprehensive cancer center, prepares to welcome patients and expand access to advanced cancer care on the city's South Side. Its Chicago team is also helping to deliver Advocate Health Care's new South Side hospital, a historic investment in the health and wellness of under-resourced communities.

Athletic Business recognizes three CannonDesign projects as 2026 Facilities of Merit. October 19, 2026 It is exciting to share that Athletic Business has selected three of its sports and recreation projects as part of its prestigious annual Facilities of Merit awards. Its work with Seton Hall University, Skidmore College and Under Armour are three of the 10 projects recognized by Athletic Business as the top 10 new or expanded athletics, fitness and/or recreation facilities of the year. Here is more information about each of the award-winning projects: Seton Hall Basketball Performance Center. The Basketball Performance Center is a bold step forward for Seton Hall and its commitment to empowering collegiate athletes to thrive. It offers dynamic amenities including a new basketball court, leading-edge strength and conditioning spaces, a film room, new coaches offices, a players lounge, dining room, a steam and sauna space and more. A cantilevered section of the building, inspired by the way basketball players seemingly float above the rim, helps announce the building's presence from afar. Under Armour's The Stadium at The House. The Stadium at The House is a state-of-the-art sports facility featuring a multidimensional field that can host high school football, NCAA and high school soccer and lacrosse, an eight-lane, 400-meter competition track and seating for 1,400 fans. Day to day, Under Armour uses the venue to test its products in the pursuit of new levels of athlete performance. Infused with leading-edge technology, the facility can track and measure athletes' performance in real time. Skidmore College mccaffery-wagman Tennis and Wellness Center. Fusing athletics, recreation, fitness, mental health, educational resources and more in one space, the McCaffery Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center marks a pivotal moment for Skidmore College as it deepens its commitment to the holistic student experience. The cube-shaped pavilion houses two floors of fitness space and a medical center, while the triangular volume connects to the surrounding outdoor tennis complex and includes athletic support, multiuse, wellness and counseling spaces. These three award-winning projects build on its company's long track record of success with the Athletic Business Facilities of Merit program. More than 15 of its facilities have earned this distinction over time, including projects such as the Richmond Olympic Oval, the Kline Center at Dickinson College and the University Recreation Center at University of North Carolina Charlotte.

This year's report focuses on its 2025 actions, offering a transparent look at its progress to date and the priorities that will guide CannonDesign next. Planet 2100 continues to anchor the report, pushing CannonDesign to weigh how today's decisions ripple into the future. CannonDesign believe design has real power to shape a healthier planet, and this report shows how that belief is playing out in practice. Christner also brought an in-house landscape architecture team with deep experience designing native landscapes and a broader range of sustainable design work. * CannonDesign climbed eight spots to #4 in Interior Design magazine's "Sustainability Giants" ranking. * Fortune named us to its "Change the World List," citing its sustainability leadership as a key factor. * CannonDesign hit new milestones in mass timber, building electrification, historic preservation and adaptive-reuse design. Skyline Glass fabricates feature wall for Cancer Center.

Skyline Glass fabricates feature wall for Cancer Center. September 15, 2026 Skyline Glass partnered with CannonDesign to fabricate a floor-to-ceiling donor recognition feature wall for the Irma and Norman Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center, a new cancer care facility overlooking Biscayne Bay in Miami Beach, Florida. Project details. Inspired by the colors and atmosphere of the waterfront setting, the installation transforms a functional donor recognition element into a signature architectural feature within the lobby. The project showcases the integration of four decorative glass processes within a single wall system, all executed at Skyline's Chicago manufacturing facility. The custom installation combines a color-matched digital gradient, eco-etch patterning from Skyline's design library, back-painting for opacity, and laminated construction. Together, these processes create a layered visual experience that complements the center's contemporary seaside aesthetic while supporting both donor recognition and wayfinding. "Projects like Braman demonstrate what's possible when multiple decorative glass disciplines are brought together under one roof," says Mark Toth, national sales director, Skyline Glass. "By coordinating digital printing, etching, back-painting, and lamination as a single fabrication process, we're able to help designers realize concepts that would be difficult to achieve through fragmented production." The digitally printed gradient establishes the custom color palette, while the etched pattern introduces texture and visual depth across the glass surface. Back-painting provides the opacity required for wall cladding applications, and lamination protects the decorative layers while enhancing durability for a demanding healthcare environment. Skyline fabricated the feature wall as a fully integrated glass system and installed the panels using the company's Vector Glass System.
