Responsibilities
  • Partner with Toxicology Leads and Study Directors to scope, design, and schedule GLP and non-GLP in vivo and in vitro safety studies, including exploratory toxicology, dose-range finding, GLP repeat-dose toxicology, safety pharmacology, and genetic toxicology.
  • Identify, qualify, and manage contract research organizations and specialty vendors; coordinate bid solicitation, bid defense, and vendor selection with Toxicology, Procurement, and Legal.
  • Own the contract lifecycle by drafting and routing work orders, master services agreements, change orders, and amendments; track scope changes against budget; reconcile invoices; and support accruals and forecasting.
  • Build and maintain integrated study timelines; monitor study milestones, sample logistics, bioanalytical turnaround, and report delivery; and escalate slippage early with options.
  • Coordinate protocol and report review cycles, ensuring documents move efficiently through internal review, quality assurance, and sign-off.
  • Track deliverables required for regulatory submissions, including study reports, certificates of analysis, and test article documentation.
  • Ensure safety issues are communicated rapidly and appropriately escalated to the drug safety and project team, leadership, and relevant agencies.
  • Serve as project manager for assigned discovery and development programs from late lead optimization through candidate selection, investigational new drug-enabling studies, and investigational new drug filing.
  • Develop and maintain integrated program plans, critical paths, and resource views spanning medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, computational chemistry, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, toxicology, chemistry, manufacturing and controls, and regulatory functions.
  • Run project team meetings by setting agendas, capturing actions and decision rationale in meeting minutes, and following through to closure.
  • Maintain program dashboards, milestone trackers, and risk registers; surface risks with mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Prepare materials and pre-reads for portfolio reviews, governance meetings, and leadership updates; ensure a single, consistent version of program status.
  • Coordinate scenario and what-if planning to support go/no-go decisions, candidate selection, and investigational new drug timing.
  • Act as a connective hub across functions and sites, resolving interface issues before they become timeline issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of project management practices, templates, and tools within the group.

Bexobrutideg belongs to a new class of drugs that specifically break down the protein BTK - an important switch in the immune system - instead of merely blocking it. This is intended to overcome resistance that occurs with current therapies. Nurix receives an upfront payment of 700 million US dollars and possible further payments of up to 2.3 billion dollars. The two companies share the development costs, with Roche covering 60 percent. In the US, both companies will market the drug together; outside the US, Roche will handle sales alone. A pivotal phase III study for the treatment of blood cancer - specifically chronic lymphocytic leukemia - is expected to start in summer 2026. As Roche further writes, blood cancer-targeting agents represent a leading class within the growing markets for non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) and CLL. In haematology, many patients with CLL ultimately experience disease progression due to acquired resistance mutations, incomplete pathway suppression, or intolerance that limits long-term use, and treatment options remain limited once patients relapse. BTK-targeting assets represent a leading class within the expanding non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) and CLL markets. The combined market is projected to reach $41 billion by 2031, with BTK inhibitors (BTKi) expected to remain the sales-leading class at approximately $19 billion.[1] This growth is particularly evident in the CLL sector, which is forecast to increase from $12 billion in 2024 to $16 billion by 2035.[2] Bexobrutideg, an oral targeted BTK degrader, is planned for Phase 3 clinical trial initiation in summer 2026 for the second-line treatment of CLL. Terms of the agreement Under the terms of the agreement, Nurix will receive an upfront cash payment of USD 700 million and is eligible to receive development, regulatory and sales milestones for a potential total deal value of up to USD 2.3 billion. Development costs will be shared 40% by Nurix and 60% by Roche. The parties will equally split the profits and losses from U.S. commercialisation. Nurix and Roche will co-commercialise bexobrutideg in the United States across all indications. Outside of the United States, Roche will be responsible for commercialisation, with Nurix receiving royalties ranging from the low- to high-teens. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including the expiration or termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976.
