About the job
- At least 5 years of experience in project accounting, including billing responsibilities, is required.
- Experience in the engineering or professional services industry is required.
- Proficiency in financial and project accounting software is required; Vantagepoint is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft products and intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel are required.
- Strong analytical and problem-resolution skills, attention to detail, and the ability to solve problems independently are required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Strong organizational skills are required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a team environment and interact with project managers, are required.
- Review project contracts and additional service requests to understand the financial requirements for each project.
- Set up and maintain projects in the accounting system according to contract terms.
- Input budget data for assigned projects.
- Process monthly invoices.
- Administer invoice submission to clients as directed by project managers.
- Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders, for the accounting files.
- Meet frequently with project managers to review project status for invoicing, unbilled amounts, and accounts receivable.
- Work independently to research and resolve issues.
- Provide accounting support to other staff as needed.
- Train, educate, or guide non-financial staff on accounting procedures when asked.
- Report on ad hoc project-related requests from project managers.
- Respond to client requests for more detail.
- Close out project accounts upon project completion.
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.
- Five years of prior experience is preferred.
- Vantagepoint experience is preferred.
- TxDOT or public-sector client experience is a plus.
