The Role:
As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the technical design and execution of key features and initiatives. You will partner with product and design teams to translate strategic objectives into robust, scalable solutions. You will play a key role in determining and implementing the best approach for solving customer problems within a Shopify/Hydrogen headless e-commerce space. In addition to writing and reviewing code, you will help shape engineering processes and workflows, ensuring consistency and high quality across our contractor engineering team. This role is ideal for an engaged engineer who is looking to contribute technically while taking on greater leadership responsibilities, making a significant impact in a fast-growing company. This role reports to the Director of Digital Product.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and marketing teams to define, architect, and build new features and enhancements for our platform
- Define platform architecture and strategy to scale while maintaining high performance
- Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code with a focus on quality
- Oversee and guide the technical work of contractor engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices and engineering standards
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and provide mentorship where appropriate
- Help establish and refine engineering processes, tools, and workflows to improve team efficiency
- Work in lock step with Product and have a deep understanding of business goals and project outcomes, and partner with stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with strategic objectives and timelines
- Act as the technical owner for key areas of the platform, monitoring platform analytics and performance and proactively identifying potential issues and areas for improvement
- Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute ideas for continuous improvement
Qualifications:
- 5+ years hands on development experience with a focus on Shopify/Hydrogen
- 2+ years in an engineering team lead role
- Strong understanding of headless e-commerce and its applications
- Experience in a fast-paced, highly iterative product development process
- Ability to deliver high quality software in a team environment utilizing a scrum process
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Is able to self-manage, but can collaborate effectively
- Doesn’t feel comfortable committing code
- Strong front-end/JavaScript knowledge, specifically react in particular
- Exhibits leadership qualities, including strong communications skills
- Located in the US (strong preference for East Coast ), with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment
The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $185,000 per year.
