Jefferson College of Pharmacy (JCP) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Biochemistry. The department has 8 full-time faculty members.
The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching, innovative and impactful research, and service to the department, college, university, and profession. The department seeks an individual who will contribute to the development and delivery of Biochemistry/Immunology/Pharmacology coursework that supports professional (PharmD) and graduate (MS) programs, while maintaining an externally funded and nationally recognized research program.
The position emphasizes biochemistry/immunology/Pharmacology as it relates to drug discovery, drug action, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic development, and offers opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across basic, translational, and applied pharmaceutical sciences.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and deliver high‑quality didactic courses in
Biochemistry/Immunology/Pharmacology and related areas within
professional and graduate curricula.
• Participate in curriculum development and integration of
Biochemistry/Immunology/Pharmacology concepts across the
pharmaceutical sciences.
• Establish and maintain an independent, externally funded research program
that contributes to the advancement of pharmaceutical sciences.
• Publish scholarly work in peer‑reviewed journals and present findings at
regional, national, and international scientific meetings.
• Mentor and advise professional students, graduate students, postdoctoral
fellows, and trainees, as appropriate.
• Engage in interdisciplinary research collaborations within the university and
with external partners.
• Participate in departmental, college, university, and professional service
activities.
• Contribute to the recruitment and retention of students and trainees.
Job Description
Qualifications:
Education Required: PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postdoctoral research training with demonstrated research productivity.
- Teaching experience in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Pharmacology o or related disciplines in professional or graduate programs.
- Evidence of, or strong potential for, extramural research funding.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in diverse academic environments.
- For Associate Professor rank: evidence of sustained scholarly productivity, external funding, and effective teaching.
The position is salaried, with generous benefits and a retirement program. Academic appointments and salary will be commensurate with experience.
