Requirements
  • Successful completion of Medication Technician training and periodic competency testing.
  • Ability to perform medication administration in accordance with state regulations.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to observe and report changes in residents' physical condition, cognition, and emotional status to a supervisor.
  • Knowledge of and ability to adhere to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act policies.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least six months of experience working with seniors in a personal care, home health, hospital, or long-term care environment.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, use fine and gross motor skills, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and smell.
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and use proper body mechanics.
Responsibilities
  • Administer or assist with self-administration of prescribed medication to residents and maintain related medical records under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
  • Complete required annual medication training.
  • Provide resident care according to each resident's care plan.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant medical records and written documentation in accordance with federal and state regulations, certification standards, and legal and ethical standards.
  • Maintain residents' comfort, privacy, and dignity while delivering services.
