- A high school diploma is required.
- Experience in administrative duties is required.
- Accuracy, confidentiality, and the ability to work quickly in a fast-paced patient care setting are required.
- A Health Unit Coordinator certification or an active Licensed Practical Nurse license in good standing is required.
- Coordinate non-clinical operations, including transcribing physician’s orders, entering orders, maintaining patient charts and unit records, processing unit information efficiently, and maintaining unit supplies.
- Maintain rules and protect against breaches of confidentiality by performing as the privacy and security officer.
- A medical office administration certificate is preferred.
- A Health Unit Coordinator certificate is preferred.
- Order transcription experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations is preferred.
- Knowledge of disclosure practices and re-disclosure limitations is preferred.
- Knowledge of clinical aspects of health care, including terminology, pharmacology, and anatomy, is preferred.
